Yeah 2 and the odd misfire for 3 cylinders I thnk, hasn't changed much either actually.... gotta take to down to RR again one of these days and get some serious work done on it.
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

If it's a budget you're working to Mick, slip down to see Shannon at In-line on Blackshaws rd. He looks after us lot. Ask Duane. He has done a bit of work for me, is cheap, quick, and knows what he is doing. Good bloke too! :)

Yep definately worth a go, did wonders to my bike before it ripened from green into a full blown banana a few months ago. Not because of the mechanic.

however, would fully recommend his work.

i get mine checked every 10K, i know the service interval says 12 but 10 is easier to remember :wink:

i think it may have had a shim or too over the 108K :wink:

i now use motorex valve guard, just to try and ward off another shimming (managed to put it off for 26K so far :lol: ). it was getting close to spec, but is still withing the serviceable limit - well , was at the last service.

I have been really lucky with my valve clearances. I bought the bike when it had 50k km on it. Had its first major service at 60k and it was fine. Then got it checked at 80k and it was still fine. The mechanic said not to bother checking them again for another 20k at least, so I haven't yet :)

I just did a minor service myself this afternoon which will take me through another 5000 or so km before I get my next major service done.

The front brakes have gone to crap about 10,000km ago. Bleeding them makes them good again for a few weeks but they they are back to spongy again. Thats why I started the braided line group buy originally in an attempt to fix my brake issues. Also the chrome on the front forks is starting to pitt a little which means the forks seals arent lasting very long.

So yeah, Im used to the handling for sure (and it still handles very well), but the suspension and brakes are just getting worn out now and if they need to be replaced they may as well be replaced with something better :)

Marty, always working toa budget but dealings thus far with RR have been nthing but pleasant and honest and given they are a KSRC sponsor i'd rather support those who support us, am kinda wierd like that, did it when I was heavily involved with the MRA too, no offense to Inline at all but had no dramas with RR so reckon i'll drop her in there again.

Agree totally with that, and RR have my details on their computer for numerous purchases over the last 18 months that I have been back in Melbourne. My office is literally 100 metres from their shop, so it's very convenient for me. I am glad you have had good experiences with them too. My dealings have been pretty good also. However, for workshop stuff, I just find it too hard to get a booking. The last three times I have wanted something done, the lead times were blown out too far, so I slipped it into Shannon. The quietly spoken Italian/greek origin tech who works/used to work there (is it Con??) was awesome. Top bloke and never charged too much.

However, as they are a franchise dealer with additional costs to absorb on top of small independant places, they naturally will have to charge a premium to cover these expenses. Thus things are normally going to be a little more costly to have done, or purchase.

I will not talk new or even used bike purchase with them, until they get rid of the guy who runs downstairs. I have given him three opportunities to sell me a bike over the last 18 months, and he really appeared like it was an imposition to have to do any work to earn the right to my business. So as far as bike sales go, they can feck off!

On the accesories and spares side, I can say they are very reasonably priced on both with few exceptions, and are always willing to talk should you know of a comparitive item sold elsewhere for less. So I always give them first crack at all my spares and accesories and tyres too.

There is another reason I go to Shannon also, it's called a business relationship. The importance of these things cannot be stressed highly enough. Once a relationship is established, things start to become easier, and reasonably priced too. As they then, to some degree, feel guilty for charging too much. I have built a relationship with Shannon through our similiar interests in extracting large amounts of power out of given capacity motors within the rules. Him for going in a straight line now (he used to circuit race, now specialises in drag racing engines-most from the big K) and me around the turns!!

And finally I will say this, Sponsor, or no sponsor. I will support our sponsors where I can, and where it does not disadvantage me too much whenever possible. I will not however, spend money with a sponsor, just because they are a sponsor. If they are not prepared to look after me in the right manner, then it is the sponsor with the issue, not me, as a TRUE SPONSOR would always attempt to financially or otherwise BENEFIT the sponsored!!!!!!!! :wink:
