Read this

Fuel just isn't going to get cheaper. There may be some short term, pre-election vote buying relief, but that is all it will be.

I need to find a more up to date version. We don't do too bad. Our prices are set by the price of crude in Singapore and it's all supply and demand. The oil people limit their output.

So now I have to pay a gst on the excise portion of my fuel cost. This is a joke.

Miserable sods
yup..when GST came in retailers were warned abt tax fixing and blah blah tax on a tax crap, and how much trouble we could get in....but the govt can charge a tax on a tax? its bullshit...

if nothing more the GST should be taken off ..saving around abt 10c per litre...at least...

as for taxing booze- well that is fair i guess..and when ppl all quit smoking, they can legalise weed, and thatll give em sumthin else to tax!!

The way I see it, it costs $X to run the country and taxes pay for that (how ever that cash is distributed). If you drop the leve from one thing, the money has to come from somewhere else. Sure, you can add tax to luxury items and non essintials - but then people will stop buying them and the tax has to come from somewhere else.

I'd like to see rego added to the fuel. Then, every car that has fuel in it is paying road tax, and those who use the roads most/are unefficient pay more. That way a dirty great gas guzzling 4*4 which ruins roads pays loads, whilst a fuel efficient bike pays very little. A car which does 100,000k a year pays loads and a car or bike that only gets used a hand full of times pays very little. Would probably only cost 3 or 4c per litre and no more finding $500 in 1 lump sum every year.

get rid of rego costs & simply pay higher for fuel??

i dunno..but i think ur whacked mate...lol...

we are whinging trying to SAVE money here...
i reckon 1st thing we should do is take company cars & fuel cards off Govt employees...
