Well that's just too bad cause I have only heard good things about the Putty :? and want to go there some day. What is the normal "fun" speed for this stretch of road ? Sounds like a fast one by the look of things ?

I guess that's why I love reefton so much because doing 90 in a 100 zone is a bit too fast, and sticking to the speed limit sends you down the cliff . That gives me an idea on fun speed vs. speed zone in some vic routes:

Location / Fun / Speed zone
==================
Reefton 80 100 :)
Black Spur 100 100 :)
Kinglake 70 100 :)
Arthur Seat 80 60 :(
GOR 120 80 :(
Sth Gippy 150 100 :(
Halls Gap 200 100

I believe the article and the main police target is the Old Rd. The Putty will be a target too but it would be much harder to police as the twisty section has nowhere for the police to set up.
The Putty is 80kph thru the twisties and you can still have fun at that speed as the corners are mostly posted at 35 to 55 kph.
Anyone can be a straight line hero (which appears to be those getting busted) its the corners that make difference.. :-)

I can think of one mate. It's very close for all of us, has a terrific surface, no maniacal cage drivers coming at you, no armco (sorry big fella couldn't resist), no cops (except perhaps on the way home). The tolls a bit high but there are no speed limits.

I think it might be time to get the backside trackside. One decent fine pays for a shitload of ridedays.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Hmm, definately one of the reasons im sort of looking forward to getting into shiftwork again, means i can go places while other people are at work (one of the few advantages)...

Besides i've only done the old road 2-3 times within the last 6 months, as good as it is, it's still a bit of a rickety road with faaar too many fuckwits making it their racetrack and cutting corners. i.e. that poor rider that had that guy come the other way and fatally clean him up :-\ a few months ago.

I remember that the putty had a crackdown a couple of years ago due to all the straight-liners doing the limit x2, etc..

[edit]
but still, getting nabbed for 67 in a 60 zone is just stupid, ffs just on the mighty GPX that'd be 7.5krpm in second gear, maximum (given that redline in 1st is about 75-80k/h). I'd not be surprised if it turns into a whole mt nebo/fender eliminator situation, definately heading that way.

It would appear the newspaper article is a bit of a beat up.

The MCC of NSW ppl have got to the bottom of it and a retraction will be printed.. supposedly.
The $750,000 being spent to target speeding motorcyclists is not correct.
The $750,000 is the black spot funding budget... Although I'm sure a lot of it will be spent targeting motorcyclists under the banner of black spot funding.

Your right on the Money Dave.
The cop i spoke to said the Putty and a number of other roads frequented by Motorcyclists would be the target for this sort of attention.

I'm assuming they will also target the National Park and Georges Down (The Road to Wollombi), Maybe even Wisemans Ferry Road.

Unfortunately, the Knee Down boys and the number of accidents and i'm sure since the Old Road is only 60K's, there would have been a number of compalints from the weekend cage owners about overtaking manouvers, will have been the reason the crabs have been drawn to our playgrounds.

The good word was it was a 6 week operation but the Cops in the local rag said maybe a permanant patrol may be in order.

Bugger.

It is a shame that a few cockheads have to ruin it for everybody, thanks for the heads up Gunna
You can still have "fun" without going overboard and attracting the attention of the police, see the afore mentioned dickheads that insist on overtaking you at blinding speed on the few straight bits there are on the OPH, strangely you get to follow them through the next corner, maybe they should have a look around at the roadside at some stage and see the little crosses stuck in the trees.
I suspect some of these riders are from other parts of Sydney they travel to the Central Coast to act like Rossi then go home, go rip up the Putty or the Nasho that’s what I think spread the police around

100% Correct Mate.

We only saw one copper Last sunday but the fingers were twirling early on.

But i don't think anyone would dissagree that 60Kph on that road is ridiculously slow considering the speed used to be 100K's when it was a main road.
Sure the surface is not great but don't ride outside of it's limitations and your own and your as safe as houses.
It's as you said the the Rossi Wannabes who are the main offenders.

I wonder how this will effect the takings at the Road Warrior?

My thoughts exactly on both counts - the postie was awesome!
Anyone else buying posties? plaster KSRC stickers over the honda labels and we can have our very own KSRC postie run!

Too bad my mate didn't as he overtook us and got clocked at 174Km/h with 6 months lost of license and $1684 fine. I think because he was riding a Fireblade not a Ninja. Maybe, in some sort of twisted way you could think like this.

OR the Kawasaki run out of puff maybe? :o

Hey Ty

Instead of stickers we could grab a couple of cans of slime green paint and redecorate the postie.

NSW cops plan a $750,000 blitz on speeding on the Pacific Highway after a
weekend in which they maintain motorcyclists turned the road it into a
'race track'

In one instance police had to give up pursuit of three bike riders after they
hit speeds of 250km/h.

Brisbane Water highway patrol sergeant Gary Carr said police recently obtained
$750,000 to fund round-the-clock patrolling of the highway between Mooney
Mooney and Kariong during busy periods.

This may involve speed traps set up permanently over weekends.

Brisbane Water crime manager Chief-Insp Darren Bennett warned the practice
of riders using the Pacific Highway as their private 'race track' had to stop.

"It's becoming an alarming trend and with warmer weather coming it is only
expected to get worse.''

"These speeds are more than reckless. They place the riders, but more importantly,
other motorists and the police in enormous danger.''

He said driving in a dangerous manner and at extreme speed meant an immediate
loss of licence and heavy fines.

Asked if police believed the offenders were professional or semi-professional riders,
Sgt Carr said "They were or else they were incredibly stupid.''

The sunny weekend saw hundreds of motorcyclists take to what is known in biker
circles as the 'old road' between Mooney Mooney and Kariong through Mount White.
