So should you not have a bit more respect for people who all day everyday have to go and help people - even if its someone they think is a waste of space they have to do it!

They may choose to do that job - but someones gotta do it!

I treat all cops I meet with respect. Most of them do likewise, even though they do like to make sure you realise they are in charge. But a few have been so disrespectful and just plain dickheaded that I could never respect them individually. There is simply no call for that kind of shit. We all have bad days. Hell I have seen some death and destruction in my earlier days too and I still never used it as an excuse to treat people like shit.

But for the most part they are reasonable to deal with when they pull me over or something. Trying to get them to chase up a robbery or something in Brisbane is pushing mud uphill though, far too many radar guns to stand behind.....

All the cops I know personally are decent guys though, and quite moderate. Otherwise I really wouldn't want to know them.

What are the options? oh... none....

I think most people know that if they get their stuff stolen, get stabbed, get raped.... etc etc etc.... the chances of the police catching the criminals are pretty low.... But at the same time the chance of getting a ticket for doing 103 in a 100km area is very high...

The best thing ever done in NZ for the police was to seperate the "traffic police" from the rest of the police.... EVERYONE hates traffic cops.... but very few people dislike police who walk the beat....

For me personally.... I have never gotten a ticket I didnt deserve.... I have also been lucky enough to NOT get a ticket when I deserved one... So so far I am pretty understanding of the police force...

They dont need OUR support... They need government support.... Better funding, more detectives investigating serious crime, better judges in the courts... Harsher penalties for repeat offenders.... Oh... and world peace.

mixed feelings from me here....i wanted to be a cop, wouldnt take me cos of my terrible driving record...mind u , i think now, knowing more abt the job that i wouldnt like it that much. some of the shit they have to put up with!!

in saying that i agree theres a lot of wanker cops on power trips, who dont deserve shit, but like any other person i meet in daily life, i treat them how they treat me...if they show a little respect, they get it back.

i suppose it can be said everytime ive been booked ive been doing the wrong thing, but what pisses me of is the subjective laws that have been made so that a cop can fine u based on opinion- his/her opinion isnt worth shit, its black or white..i was speeding, or i wasnt..theres none of this "i thought u were speeding" type shit....this is where i believe without physical (radar) evidence, that kinda fine shouldnt be enforceable.

i also believe if they had more cops out there running around chasing REAL bad guys, and not harrassing every guy who does 5km over the limit, we might be a bit better off.

oh and i have to agree with kishy...if sum1 came into my home, i wouldnt wait till the next day to cal lthe cops..id have a crack at em with what ever i could find "laying around" ....under my bed perhaps...

Australia, I grew up in London before we moved to LA. You dont know
what life I've lived, & I dont expect you to either. Life is very different
