Well - just to bring this thread back on topic

- I'm back.
I got home around Tuesday lunchtime, but really have only just felt well enough to be able to sit in front of the computer long enough to catch up.
The first thing I want to do is lodge a marketting complaint - nurse sponge-baths aren't all they're cracked up to be when your femur is in 4 peices, you have 3 cracked vertebrae, 4 broken ribs and burns on your legs. A sponge-bath requires a shot of morphine from the PCA and a further injection of morphine to endure.
Enough compaints, I'm coming along reasonably well. Apparently better than expected, for which I can only thank my Karate training - fitness helps. Everything still hurts a bit and likely will for a while - I'm slowly weening of the morphine tablets but I need to see my GP to get something else to use instead.
However, I'm walking around on the crutches (no weight on the bad leg for another 3 weeks), I'm sitting up for fairly long periods, and I'm feeling reasonably chirpy. Everyone's well-wishes and visits were much appreciated. Exhausting, but much appreciated and I hated asking for the visits to finish. Each visit raised my spirits immensely (sp?) and it was great to have such a bunch of supportive friends.
I'm now officially disabled for the next 6 months (ie I have a parking permit

), but I'm hoping recovery will be sooner than that. I'm not going to push it though or expect miracles - the first ride will be on the postie, and likely no further than up and down the street. In time I'll build up from that - 500 or 600 will be the first step up. Doctors tell me 12 months before I'm back on a bike, but we'll see.
I can't say how regularly I'll be online, but I'll try to keep up. Visits are fine but please organise them first. Too many people at once is still too much.
Thanks again everyone for your support.

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
