Re: 1999 zzr 600 wont start.

I leave mine on RES permanently because I've got a fuel gauge on mine ;)

I hate having to switch over while I'm riding. I just have to remember to switch it back to RES after getting it serviced because the mechanics ALWAYS switch it back to ON for me.... and then I think I've run out fuel when I ...

Re: W.A. - ID devices on bike.!

I've got no problem with them bringing in tags for bikes - as long as they have to be in cars and trucks as well.
If its good for one group of road users its good for all. I'd like to see how well that goes down in the community!

Re: sub 250 ... decision pending ... advice needed

22,000ks seems a lot, but everyone i've asked recons thes bikes will goo 50000 before expecting anything major, which is reassuring.

If i'm budgeting $3.5k for the bike i'd like to spend, $500 on gear (have a hand me down helmet but would want to upgrade that. Have good jacket and gloves already ...

Bikes are expensive in Aus.
yeah, but 21k pounds is still over $42k aus... and that's just currency conversion. Then there's the import costs....

Hey Russell! Long time, no see (or read).
Good to hear that the bike is not only still going strong, but making you smile even more!
Hope to see you out and about again one day 8)

Hi Cath, yeah it's been a few years since I was here even semi-regularly. Lots of things to catch up on!

Re: New tyres and a minor adjustment = HAPPY

Good point champ, maybe it tightened up because the bearing grease had settled & gone hard. I'd be re-greasing them if they didn't do it as part of thye solution.
hth. What hoops did ya get fitted ?.

New tyres and a minor adjustment = HAPPY

I took the ZZR600 into the shop the other day to get some new tyres fitted and a rego check done.
Normally I take the wheels in to get new tyres because it saves me $15 per wheel (ie. they fit the tyres for free) and I normally get the rego check done at my local servo by a car mechanic.

I had been ...

Re: Double Bubble screens

I got a reply from Eagle screens (you guys were right they are quick!). They DO make a dub-bubb for the ZZR600 and they can even import iridium ones for the same price ($150 at the moment)

I don't have the cash to buy one right now (something for christmas) but I'll definitely be getting one of ...

How do you find that windlip one on the 9? Does it do much to deflect the wind?

Re: ZZR600 Gearbox problems

Yeah, its a mystery to me too. Mine does 3 trips to work (110k round trip) each week in all weather, I change oil and filter every 5000 but have occasionally been slack and it's been about 7 or 8,000 a few times  I'm also pretty slack with my chain lube, but when the chain adjustment is ...

Re: ZZR600 Gearbox problems

My 02 ZZR600 is up to 62000 k's now and the only time I get false neutrals or missed gears is when the chain is loose or the oil needs changing. My bike generally gets Motul 5100 (or Motul 5000 for a while there). I usually use the clutch for changes but sometimes don't. I'm not a gentle rider ...

Re: Double Bubble screens

Funny this should get bumped now... I was just looking at it the other day. My ZZR600 screen is looking very sad after sitting in the weather now for almost 3 years. I've been searching the web for a replacement screen but don't seem to be having any luck.

It appears that Zero Gravity no longer ...

Re: Motul 5100

I've run Motul 5100 and Motul 5000 in my 02 ZZR6.
For me, the 5000 gives me smoother changes and was half the price. If you're changing every 5000k's it may be worth checking out.
If you're slack and don't change your oil that often, the 5100 lasts longer and you'll be able to get away with the ...

Re: Desiging SAFER Rds for Motorcyclists

I'd like to see better attention to surface condition on my country roads (its been a long time since I posted anything so here's my commute => 110km/day - 60 km country roads + 50km highway).
Anything that can be done in road design to stop the surface from deteriorating the way it currently does ...
