Mystery solved (never underestimate the power of 1 beer!!)

The problem was that the contact on one of the battery terminals was loose. Once tightened, it powers up and kicks over every time as before.

Thanks for letting me vent here guys! Yet another lesson learnt

Hi zzzak - thanks for responding.
At risk of sounding like a complete idiot, I'm to spray WD40 around 'what' exactly? Under the riders seat? This area is not wet at all - the only area that got wet was the chain and back sproket.

OK I have an update (and now a beer in my hand as I type this - I'm over it!!)

I took the seat all off, very professionally "jiggled" the fuse junction box, and tried the key again - we have power. I then went to run the engin and it all died.

Turned it all off, tried the key, nothing. Tried a few ...

Grrrrrrrr that'd be right! Just after I submitted that post I went out to try the key again and everything now works again! Murphy's law...

So what do you think that might have been the problem? Worth getting anything checked out?

That'd be right! No electrics - HELP!

Got home from a nice 2 hour blat on the new bike today, jumped on the forum and read a post about chain maintenance, got all inspired and spent an hour getting filthy with kero and a rag taking off gunk collected over the past 9000k for what looks like the very first time.

Watered the chain down ...

Thanks heaps Tanya but I'm booked up tomorrow  . I just went for a blat up Mount Tamborine (forgot how CRAP that road is) to take the new rear tyre for a spin, and got the riding bug out of my system for another day ...

Thanks for the input guys. I got a new Pilot Road on the rear which I'm loving. It's set at 38psi, but I might try 36 next week.

Tyre Pressure - whats yours?

I've heard that the golden rule is 34 PSI on the front 38 on the rear for solo riding, and perhaps up 1 or 2 on each tyre if you have a pillion.

Then again, I've heard that to avoid premature wear (but perhaps bounce off the road!!) use 36/40.

Any wise words of wisdom?

Back from Thailand

Holidays over. Reality sux. Just got back from 10 days R&R on the shores of Phuket. It's tough, you know, having a Thai massage every day!!

Some pics (if you're interested) are here, in chronological order: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bentlens/sets/72157600113565367/detail/

There's some classics ...

Official 2007 Z750 Accessories

Long shot, but does anyone know if some of the new Z750 accessories are backwards compatible (i.e. will fit an 2004-6 Z750)?

I'm liking the look of the new official Bellypan, Mushrooms and Mirrors!

Yeh it really is a great bike (can't believe it only had 7000km on it!) and I got it for such a bargain too. Made up financially for the loss sustained when I sold my first Z750 ;) Have to say as well, I've fallen for the black - think I love it even more than my first red one!
