I can confirm that you are not alone with this problem. It happened with my old ZZR250 also.
The rivets or whatever they are fall out and the front of the guard falls down onto the tire and rubs. The friction even melts the guard a little.

Just to back up whats already been stated:
Yes this is a common occurence. In three years it's happened three times to me. And two of those times resulted in having to replace the cable.
One tip that may help in relation to the cable wearing and snapping might be to try to set the cable up such that ...

I say advertise it as is first. You might get lucky.
That still leaves you with the choice to decide what to do. If it doesnt sell at least then you'll be armed with more information about what will sell and what wont around your area.

Neka is right. It will effectively cost you more than $900 ...

Thanks for all the hello's guys and gals.
Although living in tas i cant claim to be a local as I'm originally from Melb. So thankfully no stump to have to keep grinding down where that 2nd head was.
My ZZR600 is a blue one too, 05. Picked it up for a reasonable price as its got a little fairing ...

I've just moved up from the old ZZR250 I've had for a couple of years to a ZZR600. Loving the change.
