Re: M1 jetting question

Hey Brian (ZXRMAD),

Like Brian (greenman43) I haven't experienced any jetting difference with or without the emissions crap on various ZXR engines over the years.

I think 180's will get you closer to the happy running mark.

As a reference, I am currently running 175 mains and 48 pilot with kit ...

Re: M1 jetting question

Like Brian suggested, I'd bolt them on, too.

Personally I'd aim to bolt them on, get the bike to fire up and run, then get the bike on a dyno to sort jetting properly. Avoid big handfuls of revs or unnecessary running between getting it fired up and on to a dyno 'just in case' they are super lean ...

Re: ZXR 750 L1 clutch rod seal change rant

Hi Jim,

Might be worth trying to just replace the clutch pushrod first... though no guarantee that the seal might still be buggered!

The clutch pushrods are very soft (aluminium... I think) and on different ZXR engines over the years I have solved weeps in this area with a new pushrod. The ...

Re: ZXR750 100,000km Service

Nice work. 100,000km is a decent milestone!

1. Valve clearances? Last adjustment was 30,000km ago according to history. Not an overly complex job if you are OK with tools. If they were done 30,000 odd kms ago, they may be OK or only a couple might be out.

2. Valve stem seals? Bike is a little ...

Re: ZXR750 camchain rattle / rocker cover removal

I have an ex-TKA motor and don't find it particularly rattly, so definitely check out the tension of the cam chain to eliminate a possibility.

Braced frames are a bugger as they have plates welded on the inside of the frame spars around the headstock. I can't get the rocker cover off mine either ...

Re: ZXR 750 M frame and engine nos

The outside of your igniter appears different to the stock boxes, so I'd say pretty likely not standard as Brian wrote.

Just be mindful of the raised / removed rev limiters on kit or after market igniters such as Vance and Hines or the like. Our ZXRs produce good power high in the rev range, but ...

Re: ZXR 750 M frame and engine nos

Great to see some progress tracing the lineage of your ZXR!

130 odd hp sounds about bang on the money for an engine with a mix of stock and kit parts. You may be able to extract a few extra hp, but I'll jump the gun and assure you that Brian will advise you to drill, file, grind, dremel or just ...

Re: ZXR 750 M frame and engine nos

There were some ZXR superbike engines around back in the day that did not have engine numbers. One of my engines is an ex TKA job, and it is a 'blank' - ie no engine number stamped on casing. I know of a couple of others, too - ie genuinely not stamped... not stolen engines with fudged numbers!!

Re: ZXR 750 M frame and engine nos

The frame number should be stamped in to the head stem. The engine number on a rectangular part of the case 'on top' of the gearbox / clutch housing. Hard to describe exactly with out a pic.

Re: Sprocket codes

Are you looking for 520 sprockets to run on standard ZXR rims or the Marvics on your bike?

In case you are looking for Marvic suited sprockets, your sprocket carrier bolt pattern is possibly different to the standard ZXR bolt pattern. Worth checking.

I have Marvics on my bike and the sprocket ...

Re: Can anyone ID this ZXR pipe

Thanks - looks like its a Muzzy then, in the absence of anything to the contrary.

Pipe technology was evolving at the time these Muzzy systems were manufactured. My ZXR Muzzy system on the dyno had a noticeable flat spot / plateau around the 7000rpm mark before building good BHP again. Not such a ...

HaHa! Kwakked up, any tyre recommendation question always opens a can of worms! Everyone has their own opinion and preference.

Honestly, most manufacturers make a good sticky treaded tyre that are right at home on the track. So, you should be OK with most options.

As you are looking for a set that ...
