Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

If you have a similar pump on your bike it might pay to pull it apart and/or see what happens when you put 12V (or 6V if that's what your bike runs on) into it. I can't find listings of your bike on ronayers.com or similar to see what if any fuel pump setup you have.

As an aside with regard to ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

If it starts with and runs with aerostart or similar (or even a small amount of neat petrol) straight down the carbs, and you've eliminated the tank/petrol tap/vacuum leaks then the only place left is carbs. Get 'em sorted and she'll run.

They will run (with the choke) if two carbies are ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

G'day Dave#3 and Rusty,

Thanks for the replies :) - Hey Dave#3, did i meet you at Pie in the Sky a few weeks ago? I was the one that used to work with Cath at WM?

Anyhoo, i've been trying to get the bike running minus the tank, so i am not sure if that is a problem in itself, the way i had it set ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Mine does exactly the same thing... and therefore has been sitting in the bikeshop for close on a month now... The mechanics tried similar things like you ( Start ya bastard down the carbies etc) but tells me the bike just refuses to start. He did say that number One cylinder was low on compression ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Hi Guys,

Welllllll... Its been a long time since i had done anything to the ZX2, simply because it twisted my brain into a very unhappy place :?

I asked a good friend to come over and lend some experience with the troubleshooting side of things and he really made some progress :D , though we did ...

Re: Hi all

Belated welcome to you :)
Was nice to meet you, though it was a bit of a surprise! Will be good to see you and the missus out and about once you get the ZX2R ticking over - always nice to see new and friendly faces.

(I was in our head office, rather than out on the northern beaches today, and ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Well... It worked out fine with the charger (Cheers again Daisy). Managed to charge it for an hour or so, hooked it all up and got good solid power. But she wont kick over now! I checked that there was fuel getting to the carbs, which there was. So it must be the plug leads again. I havent sourced ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Quick question... I have to charge the new battery and have borrowed a charger from a mate, but how do i know if it can be used for a motorcycle battery?

The charger is rated as follows:

Powertech PLus - Sealed Lead Acid Battery Charger

Model MB-3523

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Well i got a chance to have a quick look at the bike tonight, I found that there's fuel getting to the the fourth carb, well at least fuel came out of the float bowl drain.

I lubed up the right 'bar and the cable guides inside the switchblock and it works like a charm :) Snaps shut exactly how it ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Thanks, that will be my next step tonight... Get the throttle working smooth. So wizards piss to the rescue again!

Once i get the o-ring, i will take the carbs off again (assuming i can't get to the screw while the carbs are fitted) and seat that back into the circuit as you've mentioned.

Just so ...

Re: What Next? [ZXR250A 1990]

Hey Gosling1...

Well... again, spot on about some WD40 on the rubber manifolds, easy as anything to get back on! I had more trouble trying to get the throttle cables all lined up and sitting correctly - i had to take the right hand switch block off to loosen the cables enough to get the carbs off ...
