Re: GPz900r Over-heating

A few observations from a non-owner, take it with a grain of salt:

Thermostat
The webike article linked to shows the pic of a thermostat with 82deg on it and then contradict
themselves by stating "The valve opening temperature is imprinted on the main body of the
thermostat, and the case of this ...

Re: 2000 ZX9R running on three cylinders? :(

Yep, NGK made in Japan. Thats why stupid me went and got a coil, i cleaned up the plug anyway, and presumed it wasnt the plug, cause i have never had a plug fail.
Hmm, a bit fishy how the problem moved with the coil. Still, a fix is a fix.

I'm half looking into the so-called "stick coils" for the ...

Was this a jap spark plug? I can't remember the last time I've seen a jap plug fail.

Re: 2000 ZX9R running on three cylinders? :(

thats a case in point.. different fuel brands react differently
And it will vary with geography. The fuel you get in a far north Queensland summer may be different to the mix you get in the depths of a Tasmaninan winter, and then there is the anti-sniffing Opal fuel in remoter areas.

Re: 2000 ZX9R running on three cylinders? :(

Hi Kiwimat . Seems like you found the issue. Whether you change all the coils is up to your finances. I would be inclined to buy one and see if that really fixes the issue and if so maybe buy another one to keep spare. At least you have a nice visible part number on the coil to search with.

Re: Annual CCJMC Moto Spectacular 8/3/20 Melbourne

Had one of these 40 years ago traded in my 750 Suzuki water bottle on her.40 years ago bloody hell
Back in them days a front mudguard was designed to keep crap off the engine.

The test of any good bike is wishing you still had it. My only foray into the GS series was a GS400B which proved ...

Any ideas on what Kawasaki you are wanting?

Re: Annual CCJMC Moto Spectacular 8/3/20 Melbourne

Things were a bit quiet this year. The lack of a loud band was actually a welcome relief.
There are a lot of events (motorcycle and not) competing for attention around this time of year. I would have liked to have got out to the Steamrail Victoria open day at Newport Workshops, or even the annual ...

Annual CCJMC Moto Spectacular 8/3/20 Melbourne

I see the CCJMC is holding its main annual event on Sunday of the Labour Day long weekend.
The weather for Sunday looks decent and the Austrian Club in Heidelberg West is a nice venue with good coffee and tucker.

Did It Again

While the tank is off I figured I might as well clean the right hand switchblock.
Such is life with an old bike, it is easy to be consumed by the "might-as-wells".
I just wanted to check the condition of the contacts and renew the dirty old grease. It came up nice.

Re: GPX750R resurrection

I used POR15 kit (just search ebay about $100) which is a 3-step process to line the tank:

I'll keep that in mind.

It had worked well the past 2 years but after some more reading there is a debate whether to line or simply remove rust using typical acid (posporic, etc) plenty from bunnings.

I ...

We can't lose the archive of knowledge that members have spent many years building, and something faecesbook can't do.
I vaguely remember similar opinions when forums took over from mailing lists and USENET newsgroups, and when mailing lists and USENET took over from message boards.
