Re: GPZ900R exhaust options?
Bummer. I'll make a note of that on my site. What was Plan B?

Re: GPZ900R exhaust options?
Ancient post but I will ask anyway - how did you fare finding an Aussie exhaust?

GPz900r Keihin Main Jets
Before this knowledge gets lost out of a Clean Air Circuit - I'm wondering if anyone knows the logic of carb set-up of the detuned later bikes? I know the following facts:
US spec A1 CVK34 Main Jet #135/138 = twin port air intake = 115hp
AU spec A8 CVK34 Main Jet #100 = single port air intake ...

Re: GPz900r Over-heating
Great article! Timely too as my 900 is running hotter than usual at the moment.
A few things to add:
Repco sells a 1.1 cap for around $14 or so. RC57-110 is the model IIRC. Had one on my bike for years and replaced recently. It is my go to motorcycle cap and I have had on many bikes.

A few observations from a non-owner, take it with a grain of salt:
As long as it's a logical technical discussion all thoughts welcome!

GPz900r Over-heating
Hiya all, FWIW I'm trying to start collating my accumulated info on the bike into one site.
I'm not trying to undermine the value of forums (more the merrier in fact), however I'm trying to be really specific on JUST this bike and concentrate on owner-sourced data rather than general motorcycle ...

Re: GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
So the final choice is 29psi front and 33psi rear. As mentioned the rear isn't such a big deal but I definitely notice the sweet spot for the front is between 28 and 30. From what I recall the recommended pressures for the G is +4 at the rear so I've just let the front set the rear. So clearly ...

Re: GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
Cheers Brett. Funnily enough I went from the super grippy Conti Road Attacks to the Bridge/Avon combo last time - and I didn't recall noticing such a big change in the bike. Less grip of course (the rear grip with the Conti is amazing), but I'm guessing that the Contis construction is also 'softer ...

Re: GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
Last notes.
Dropped the rear tyre pressure just 1.5psi and immediately seat height felt like it was before. So I'm thinking it can't have been as much as 15mm, but its a noticeable change. Reinforces that these tyres are quite sensitive to tyre pressures.
I had read other reviews that mentioned ...

Re: GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
Roads washed clean and a nice day to make a round trip (240km) along one of SA's iconic motorcycling roads - Bull Creek. Chicken strips measure 15mm so slowly getting there.
Rear first - my good gauge reads 37.5psi. The G always has a firm rear, and these tyres magnify everything, probably by 1.5x ...

Re: GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
OK, what a difference a day makes.
Didn't have my good tyre gauge handy so had to go and by one from the hardware store. Still felt like it's riding on a solid front tyre.....
It's hard to know just how accurate this gauge is, but after letting the tyres cool down for a couple of hours they ...

Re: GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
Came out of shop with recommended 38psi. I'm probably gonna drop front right down to 32psi and work up, at this point wasn't thinking of changing rear.

GPz900r & Dunlop Roadsmart 2/3 Review
FYI at this tyre change the RS3 was available for the 18" rear, so on recommendation I went that plus an RS2 on the front replacing my previous Bridgestone BT45 & Avon Cobra combo.

Re: 900r ignition coils
Sorry for delay in responding - family etc. So a closing summary.
Replacement alternator seems to have sorted the ignition issue. Like everything once it's sorted it kinda makes sense and the breadcrumbs add up, but the symptoms made it incredibly hard to explain to a mechanic because it runs fine ...

Re: 900r ignition coils
Update:
Yesterday went for 30km hwy ride on hot day with spare IC box and voltmeter. Volts 14.3 in town and steady at 14.4-5 on hwy. As soon as I came off hwy revs into Mt Barker bike started to lose power and volts were down around 13.8. I planned to head home via Strath but as I left Mt Barker ...
