Re: E1 ZX9. My worst nightmare, cracked frame
Yeah thats what i keep getting told. With the amount of information on these frames cracking on the web i can supply, I'm sure there is a reasonable argument to be made by me. Kawa said 'because its so old with so many kms' they will only offer a discount. I see why theyre saying that, but with such ...

Re: E1 ZX9. My worst nightmare, cracked frame
So Kawa contacted me back, wanted $1200 for a new frame, plus for me to pay labor. Apparently the bike is too old and has too many kms.. Obviously no acknowledgement of the fact they have built frames with a piss poor design that crack in the same place, a google search on 'zx9 frame cracked' will ...

Re: E1 ZX9. My worst nightmare, cracked frame
Thanks mate, there definitely is some positives to come from it. Ive got plenty of parts like steering head bearings and what not to fit while I'm at it rather than having to do it further down the track. If kawasaki was to supply me with a new frame, the time and effort isn't really an issue, id be ...

Re: E1 ZX9. My worst nightmare, cracked frame
Holy shit mate. Your lucky that didn't kill you!!
Im hoping to hear back from the dealer on kawasaki's decision regarding 'what they will do for the dealer to help his reputation' because they're insisting repeatedly to the dealer they won't be doing anything for me as such. Obviously they're quite ...

Re: E1 ZX9. My worst nightmare, cracked frame
Thanks mate, I was wondering whether it was worth digging up all the information i could on it from forums. Its not even funny how many posts there is on forums regarding the subject. From what i can gather, the first few years the did the frame and the labor as 'good will' as mentioned above, after ...

E1 ZX9. My worst nightmare, cracked frame
Ok, worst nightmare might be a little exaggeration, but I'm sure everyone here can relate to me being dramatic, given the title of this post.
Ive owned my E1 9r for 8 months now, its been an absolute pleasure to own. It the best bike I've ridden, let alone owned, has been reliable (for both me and ...

Re: E1 zx9 gearing change (your experiences)
Hey guys, not sure if anyone is interested, but i finally changed out chain and sprockets. Went −1 on the front, i absolutely love it. Ive heard a few people say they should be geared like that from the factory and I’ve gotta say i completely agree. It really surprised me how much of a difference it ...

Re: Akrapovic ZX9 question
Mines a 10/99 and listed as a 99 model on rego papers etc, but is an e model. Im guessing if its stamped 10/99 its in fact a ‘2000’ model though.

Re: New chain and sprockets
Thought i may as well hijack this thread then start another. Im due to swap out my chain and sprockets on my E1 zx9. After looking around most people seem to recommend did or ek chains. I got quoted by my local bike mechanic $390 (around $90 labour) to install an ek x ring chain and the sprockets, I ...

Re: ZX12R K&N filter
I cant say for sure mate, but id suspect with something like airflow, that if its affected it will be obviously noticeable.
By the way, I’m selfishly hoping it is, those bikes are just too f-ing fast haha.

Re: E1 zx9 gearing change (your experiences)
So.. good news. As suspected, it was a confidence issue
It was literally as simple as my throttle hand positioning. After finding a good spot to practice i quickly realised i wasn’t rolling the throttle on hard enough.
A very, very simple change and now she’s power wheeling like a dream!! That mid ...

Re: E1 zx9 gearing change (your experiences)
Oh i worked that out pretty quick haha. At the moment I’m still yet to get my knee down on it! Long way off even doing the bike justice.
Honestly, i was looking at 954’s and R1’s, but the 9 came along at about half the price. (A customer at my work had it). I couldn’t resist at least trying it out ...
