You can think of it as you're only putting on 1/2 the load on the engine compared to what it's designed to do at 12k rpm, so i dont feel tooooo bad about sitting on it for a little while.

Ive wanted a bike since i was 15, and now 10yrs later it makes riding THAT much sweeter Gotta say though, this bike is built very nicely for noobs. It's just so easy to ride!
I just bought myself one today, and doing 80 down the great western hwy it looked odd sitting about about 6500rpm. My mates one does the exact same thing, so it must be the way the sprockets and gearing is setup on these.
