Got the little plastic bottle I was after, prolly is 25ml at max cap. When I added it to the bike, only about 5ml of oil prolly came out of the hose (so from the airbox) into the bottle.
I got a mechanic to compression test it and he said its fine and he stuffed some gausse into the crankcase ...

Re: GPX250 oil drip from airbox, how to fix?
What did u do to fix this? I got my bike tested and its compression is fine and not blowing smoke, but exhibits the same problem. So far the mechanic has just stuffed the crankcase breather hose (the one that connects crankcase to the airbox) with some gausse, but now the breather hose isn't sealed ...

Oil Catch can - know of a good wrecker that might help?
Hey
As a stop gap measure, I need to add a oil catch can to the end of the airbox drain hose for my gpx. I'll need to get one from a wrecker, so can anyone recommend any wreckers (if not in SE QLD can post interstate)?
On some Kawasaki Nina ZX6R I have noticed them having it, but I don't know if ...

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Spoke to a mechanic $1500-$3000 to fix compression seals and no guarentee it'll be fixed too lol what bullshit.
Tho looks like it is a compression seal issue. Time to trade the bike in and upgrade I think!

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Drained the oil, slightly over 1L and about 50ml out of the airbox drain hose....
If my compression seals are gone what sort of cost to fix?

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Might just add a oil catch (aka catch can) to the airbox and move the airbox drain hose to the oil catch tank for easy draining of it.
Could live with that for the next 9 months until I replace the bike.

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
I'm going to drain the oil fully tomorrow and add new oil to it tho not for the recommended amount 1.9L; add about 1.5L and see if the problem occurs. So this should have the bike about 3/4 full.

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Well for whatever reason oil keeps collecting in the airbox, more than is designed and should be burned off as you ride. So when the bike sits, the oil leaks out the small hole in the airbox that the coolant bottle sits in front. The only breather hoses are one for the fuel tank and one for the ...

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Got a mechanic out today, looks like oil is getting into the airbox and leaking out thru the hole in the airbox compartment that sits behind the coolant bottle.
He is currently trying to track down where the airbox is getting filled with oil from, as the small hose that connects the engine to the ...

Anyone know a good mechanic on the Gold Coast?
Anyone know of a good mechanic on the Gold Coast for Kawasakis?
I'd like to go to a mechanic who knows his stuff so I can get my oil leak fixed first time.
Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Any excuse to get out of work ;). That said I really want this problem sorted and so I'm just going to get the experts to sort it for me. As much as I'd like to save money, I want the problem fixed rather than backyard mechanic it.. if you know what I'm mean (valvoline, heh). I'm somewhat reassured ...

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
bloody 2nd hand bikes! In the supplied toolkit for hte bike, it doesn't have the tool to undoe the front gasket casing... Not to worry saved me from a bunch of work ;). So since I can't work on the bike and try and fix this leak, I call up a mechanic i got put onto, without going into to great ...

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
After posting elsewhere, got put onto shell advance sx4 20w-50.. good thing too as no one seems to stock the castrol or motul I was after. Fortunately found one place stocking the shell advance. Will do an oil change and clean out the front sprocket casing.

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
Don't know what I was thinking last night, I'm going to do an oil change and switch the oil from Motul 5100 to the Castrol 20W50 bike oil (Actevo).

Re: 2005 "Exon Valdez" GPX250 Oil leak
So use 20w-50 (thicker/heavier) oil over 10w-50 in hotter climates?
Also I'm reading you can get away with using Castrol GTX2? But then there is issues with a slipping clutch at high speeds or you can "stuff your clutch"? Then I read anecdotal evidence about bikes running up to 100ks on car oil? (e ...
