Re: parts ??? re ZXR750H1

I'm no hater, the Bremzen seem fine and I've seen them occasionally listed with ADR/ISO approval BUT...

There's the return policy, postage time etc to consider. HEL down the road does free replacement if a sold part doesn't fit - and you don't want lines that are to short/get the wrong banjo or ...

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

Yes having a spare set is nice just in case I feel like rebuilding them one day.
And that something you do with your own two hands that feels so good....Is erm well your own business..LOL..

Hahaha I didn't even realise

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

Put a fuel injection kit on her :D

haha I'd buy the injection kit if I knew a bit more about bikes, but as is I'm sticking with the old school :D

have alook at the floats and the pivots...

I've actually given up on these carburetors as of today - after continued float level setting (it ...

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

So close!

CARBS IN
The bike started!! Ran for about ten seconds before fuel started flowing out of the carb 4 (LH Side).

CARBS OFF
Cleaned out entire seat and needle assembly again, check all holes were free and drowned in carb cleaner before airing and replacing.

CARBS IN
Bike runs for all of ...

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

Working on carbies can be a little scary for the first time..

Agreed! Even my parents' 83' Volvo has EFI! :D Carbs are quite difficult, but it's something I've been interested in for a while.

I won't have time to work on the bike much for the next few days, but hope to have another before the ...

Re: Paint question

Kitten Cut and Polish. Discovered it as a teen and been buying it ever since.

Fine scratches can usually be dealt with using CnP, but not for all powder coats. Thus the disclaimer "Test a small amount in an inconspicuous area" ;)

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

@Maddog - The fuel tap was left open, I tested it today as recommended by ducati_paul, it works fine.
@Strika - I'm using carb cleaner around rubber parts ;) and I think you're right about that gravity feed...my bike turned into Lake ZXR the other night.

Here's the update atm, I think we're ...

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

Ok so there's still hope. I''ll start the ringing shop marathon to try and track down get new needles and seats. It may be expensive but it sounds like what I need so it has to be done.

I'll check the fuel tap as well just incase that was the problem.

As for the engine come fuel tank, I'll do as ...

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

ARGH

I think I've just locked up my engine, at least for the time being.

I left the bike to have dinner, and reconnected everything as you do.

When I came back, EVERYTHING was flooded with fuel. Like the whole tank had emptied into the carbs for no reason at all. The key wasn't in the bike even ...

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

Really helpful advice, I'll keep it all in mind as I go along.

I'll hold off on the new jets for the moment (Getting parts for this bike has been an absolute pain so far) but if I get time I'll start making calls.

Just really want to hear it running at the moment :D

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

I'm at Norman Park, about 15 mins SE of Brisbane.

If you listen closely you can hear a trail of swears leading to me as I struggle to pull off these damn carbs :D

They're on their mighty tight, which I suppose is a good thing.

I managed to get one side to not spew fuel by just draining the ...

One last thing before I set out on this mission - will they need to be 'synced' afterward?

I'm hoping no but assuming from what I've heard its a yes :S

Re: 91' ZXR750 turned into a fuel fountain??

So I should disassemble/clean out the carbs?

Forgive my knowing these things

I'm keen to do it myself though.
