you should try park the bike in a position where u dont have to push it to take off. that works for me.

I reckon any one over 5'5" has "NO FUGGIN IDEA" what it's like to move a modern sports bike around, i dont care if ya missus's auntie's budgie was a dwarf with bad ankles & a prosthetic pecker, if you personally don't had to worry about where you put your feet every time you stop it dont quite cut it ..... so perhaps the gravity defiers amongst us may be better off going to the Next topic & having a blew over there. Quick Neka's back ... make some Rhonda jokes thats the go ... :wink:

Dogbones have 2 uses imho, first is for drag racing 2nd involves lots of dirt. :roll: Built up shoes are pretty silly when you think about it, unless your on an Automatic scooter on your way to the "Harlem Nights premier wearing your bestest boob tube".

Rear shock Spacer removal (97-02 models) can make a big difference, seat shaves work but then you pay for the rough ride. Tripple forks slides can be good but if your leaning too far forward that makes it harder to balance for the slow stuff as well so .......

Collete you know the work Ratmick & i have done to chase up seat heights, i think you do Extremely well on the zedzedsix (Rusty's at least) , & if memory serves didn't you ride Janelle's zxr400 while you were here. I know they are older style scoot but certainly an extremely capable bike & very confidence inspiring (as far as too say they make the Famous 7r's front end feel slow & spongy). Of course securing one is tricky but they can be sourced from an importers up here for about 7large on road with @20 000ks on the clock. Just ask "Cyclone TracyKat " her black 94 is a peach & in really good nick. Most people confuse Janelles' 400 as a 740 anyway.

Also I really think the new ER6 would be perfect & with a bit of bling thrown at it. Could Be a great long term bike for you Sweetie.

nah took me a while to get used to the six ponti it was a hazard turning it around till i learnt to look for flat ground.

Can lower these things you know but then you have to watch for driveways and expensive fairing repair and as the lowering process is completely reversible i would think its ok.

We have a seconder! Definitely agree on the front end of the 400. Gotta ride it to believe it.

re: the 600, it's sorta a little higher now that the preload's set (circa 20mm(!!!) loaded), but it's a heck of a lot easier to ride.

wots the seat height on the z750?? i kno its naked, but u could get more than 5 cougars riding naked!!

umm id expect the zxr400 would b maybe a tad sportier than col wants?? surely as a commuter (which she uses the zzr for) the zxr would b as freindly on ones rectum??

I actually don't commute to work anymore, I use the bike for stuff on weekends and long distance trips now.

Seat height is 815mm. I'm 171cm (5'7" tall) and when I have both feet down I am up on the balls of my feet, which makes moving the bike around on anything other than a flat, sure surface interesting...

How do the height-challenged members move their bikes when they are off them?

Do you grab the handle bars while trying to lean over the bike, and push with you're body away from the bike? ie facing bike with bum pointing away. Very similar to the way you move a pushbike around.

OR

Do you grab the handle bars, and place you're hip into the tank/seat area, such that you are virtually facing to the front of the bike, bum tucked in? with bike at slight lean towards yourself.

The second method is the preferred, and more stable, method. The first requires a fair amount of strength and leverage height.

I know this is going to produce howls from the others, but have you considered any of the cruisers?

Doesn't sound like you ride 10/10ths, fang hard etc, (I may be wrong of course) so a cruiser may provide all the power that you need, and you're confidence will definitely increase if you're not having to worry about 'handling' the size of the bike.

As I have mentioned a few times now, it is not the riding I am concerned about, it is the weight of the bike and being able to move it around physically...
