HELP MEXICANS!!! (pics added)

Postby Yankee » Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:38 pm

coulda thought of a better topic/title name, huh?!

but anyway, could someone near FAIRFIELD, VIC??? help me out???

seems a gentleman named "Ben" has a motor for sale on e-bay, that coincidentally would fit my bike where my faulty engine is!! (or was)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Kawasaki-ZX6-mot ... dZViewItem

now, I wrote to him and asked the obvious questions... why the tape on the oil-level sight glass, how the thing only has 7,000Kms (race bike use?), what happened to the bike that went with this motor? how much it'd be to get to QLD, etc.....

BUT, could someone go and check it out for me? (and not buy it out from under me!!! ) it seems too good to be true (timing, km's, year, everything) so I'm not getting my hopes up.... so anyway, anyone live near there? or even anyone know of other things I should ask Ben? or things I should look out for??

again, and as always, thanks for all your help ksrc!

Marty

Good thing about wetbacks, they are ALWAYS willing to work - working and having babies is what they are good at.
Hello 911? ahh its Quagmeyer - yeah its in the window this time.

Get out of here,,,,,,,,,,,,

Your telling me Australia has Mexican's too???????

Wreaked bike most likely. Plastic costs more than that engine.

we have a few latinos, but not many

banana benders (queenslanders) refer to people from melbourne as mexicans because we're in the far south

at that price it might be hard to go wrong, that is if nobody else is interested...

and even if you got it for say $1000, you could always put it back on ebay if it wasnt much chop :P

His name is Ben Lake. He imports motors from Japan and sells them here for a good price. I know someone who has used him a couple of times and the engines fired up first time and are very reliable. i would not hesitate to buy from him.

Looks markedly like a ZZR600 motor too, not that I need one. I'm happy to go take a look for you Yankee but anything in particular you want me to sus out?

I'm no mechanic by any means so if you get an offer from someone more mechanically inclined, take it :)

lol... cheers mick! I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed either (mechanical-wise)... but I just wanted someone to have a look at obvious stuff, like: why that sight glass is covered with tape? if the gaskets are oil soaked or leaky (IF it is only 7K on it, why would it look anything but BRAND SPANKERS?!) heck, it hasn't even had it's 12,000km service yet!!!
I'm drooling here!!
anyway, thank you for the help. I will ring Ben today. Thank you for the word of confidence jpbikeboy about him, means a lot coming from a fellow KSRC-ian (I don't know why, but I trust you guys!) And Mick, you said it looked like a zzr engine? well, that scares me!! But the engine # closely matches mine, so that gave me a warm fuzzy: ie:
ZX600FE****** is the same.....
I'll ring, and I'll keep you all posted, and I might change the title of this thread!!
cheers VICTORIANS... hey, i was one for 2 years!!!

Yankee, may well be wrong but don't think there is a heck of a lot of diff between zxr6 and zzr6 motor wise, more so body position, one being a Sports tourer (ZZR) and one being a full on sports (ZXR).

Lemme know if you want my assistance, at the Blood Bank at 8:15am tomorrow so can drop past on the way back if you like.

That would be fantastic Mick! Thanks a mil!! Just to atleast have "someone" look at it and let me know it's atleast descent.....
I just keep thinking to myself.... "7000 kms"????? how the hell!!! it's 5 years old.... how do you only put 1400kms/year on a bike? it must've been raced. or wrecked and sitting up for AGES... which wouldn't be a good thing!!!
anyway, YES, I will most humbly and gladly take you up on your offer of having a look!!!
and chupa chups?! all I have to do is get in your car mister?! SWEET!!!!

LOL!

he wants $1220 (shipped to my door) to stop the auction.....

I reckon that's pretty good. I can put all my "good bits" on it (the parts that are scratched and what not)

so, anything from those pics that don't look kosher to you guys?
