ZX9R grab rail eliminator?

Postby NinjaMoses » Mon Oct 31, 2005 11:35 pm

Does anyone know if these are available or even a replacement tail section without the cutouts for them (but still with a pillion seat)?

I didnt think they were until I stumbled across this pic which definitely looks like a 98 - 01 model ZX9R to me, and as far as I know none where ever released without grab rails??

Any ideas people? :) Image

I think that is a 1 off mate. Easiest way would be to "Glass the holes over".

the 03 model f2 has no grab rails (same decals as the one in the photo)
but it is a completely different rear sub frame too
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

Yeah I know the 02/03 models have no grab rails, but they have a much pointier rear end then that one. Im sure that is a 98 - 01 model tail so look like it is probably just a custom job. Looks sweet.... might have to look at doing the same to mine.

I've been on the back of an 02 and would welcome a grab rail.

That would be a very simple job... but expensive if you have a tail that's not already in need of repair!

if a b model tail fits i've got a fibreglass one.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

That's a smoothed off one, tell by the difference in the paint.
If ya remove the rails the ducktail is an irregular shape so ya have to shave, fill, primer and paint. Already looked into that one and can't be arsed.
Good luck bud.
ps I tought about knocking some plugs up for the holes but again it comes down to the fact that the hole sections are actually raised on 2 of the holes, so they are still noticable :?

You would be correct... that's a C-model.

The clip-ons attach to the forklegs above the top triple clamp (The E and the F have risers, and the forks sit fluch with the top triple clamp).

The clutch lever is adjustable.

The idjut lights are large and set in a brushed-aluminium-looking binnacle which also goes around the tacho.
