G'day, names Jeff but have been called Nobby for too long to remember... yes I'm a born again biker... currently riding my little ZZR250, naturally black pretty well stock except for the twin Megacycles to give me a bit of road presence..sick of being told "I didn't see you" and I do like the sound of them burbling off when ya slow down.

Hope ya don't mind me starting off my hello's with a question, but who better to ask than a bunch of Kwaka riders.

I'm off restrictions in October and looking for a mid range sports tourer...
Criteria is pretty simple.........It has to be a Kwaka, 600 to 800cc and under $7000.

I'm pretty well set on the YZF600 Thundercat, most people tell me they are a good bike, but what do I need to look out for when buying used.

easy. 98 or 99 zx-6r. might even find a decent 7 or 00 zx-6r for that price if you're lucky.

and welcome :)

Hi Nobby and welcome to the forum!, have you had a look at the zzr600?
A lot of people disregard them as old hat, but they are a surprise package, go for a test ride, I am sure you will be surprised!
I am sure there will be others along soon to reinforce what I have just suggested.

Welcome Nobby, get change from 7k for a an early zx6r like yappas or Pats both great examples of midrange rockets.
Cheers Brett
I wanted a thundercat a few years back, but the zx6r is a much better scoot.

Yep neil is on the money. If thats your budget then the zzr600 is an awesome choice. I did actually consider a new one myself when i first started looking to upgrade. I reckon for around 10,500 you could ride away on a new one, now that is tempting hey ??

When they were first released they were the fastest 600 on the road, Bloody comfy too

hehehhehe  has to be a kwak, but your keen on a cat?

i'd say all the sports tourer 600s are pretty much equal, its just a matter of finding a) what sits you best and b) whats in your budget. not any one of them is really BETTER than the other, its what suits you the best...

and go have a look at http://www.yzf600r.com if you want some more info on that bike. if theres something to be known about that bike, its on there

welcome nobby.
u'd probably get a better example of a 6 for that price than a 7.
comes down to comfort like others have said.

big fan of the zzr600
never heard anyone say a bad thing about em.
plus they look pretty cool.

good luck with the decision.

Greetings,
as has been said over and over, Sports tourer, I'd say ZZr600, a bit more "sports", a ZX6r and for a "little" more grunt and torque ZX7r.
