Thanks for the well wishes Yankee. It is a relatively cheap form of motorsport, provided you don't blow up engines  But racing is def the most fun I have had with my pants on

The thing I love about a track, is being able to go over the same piece of tarmac over and over and over. Each time, Braking later and later, Turning in harder and harder, getting on the gas earlier and earlier.

You cannot replicate the speed you run at on track while on the road, and live.

A ride day is fun, but racing takes you to a whole new level. All of a sudden you go from being the fastest amongst yr mates, to being the slowest on the track. but that doesn't last long as you tag on behind, the person who is just a little ahead of you, and you watch and learn from them. Then you latch onto the person in front of them, and learn from them until you are once again faster then them, and so it goes on.

Then all of a sudden, you start being able to do really loony stuff, like push the front into turns so hard that it slides across the track. Like being able to use the throttle to change direction into MG up over Lukey. Like being able to back it into Honda, and so forth. thats when it is massively rewarding. Oh BTW, with this comes the inevitable crashing. Be prepared for it, and expect it. If you race, it's gunna happen.

Update 7 Team Strika - "Geriatric class"

Had word along the jungle drums (telephone) today, that the No1 motor is back in the No1 bike again :supz: , and the No2 motor is on the bench, ready to be rebuilt next week, after the race team finish Winton.

Picking it up thursday, which by then it will be transformed back to my original build of 96' apart from colour. Which includes putting back the Scitzue tacho, and doing a couple of other things. Gavin cosway had a few brand new bits n pieces still lying around in storage since 96' :) So i have snaffled those up.

So the intention is to run in the new motor (two laps) at the next P.I. ride day. At the same time I am going to try a few things to improve braking performance. Ist things is to clean all the disc surfaces, then put in new pads, and replace fluid and bleed. If this sees no improvement, then I am going to try a different compound pad, because although back in 96' the best pad available was actually the standard pad  I am sure modern pads MUST surely be improved and may yield some improvement :?

If this fails then I will consider buying a set of calipers and A Master Cylinder from a wrecked R1 or something similiar, to use in club racing, and just swap back to the standard brakes for the histerical racing

I was very happy with suspension at Broadford, last time out, however as lap times start to improve, the suspension will need work I am sure

Got the No1 motor back in the No1 bike and back in the Toy Box at the orifice

New Head gasket, Base gasket, Exhaust gaskets, Rings 4, Piston 1, Circlips, Piston pins 4, barrells, head, valves, cams, buckets, springs, guides, seals, cam cover gasket, Plugs, Starter clutch, 0W5 NEO oil.

The Scitzu Tacho is refitted, and all I gotta do is put back on the airbox, tank, bodywork, and seat, then change the front sprocket and we are ready to run it in at the Island On monday. :D

I am spewing that i have to run it in at a ride day. i am gunna miss out on the fun in the first session. Maybe I can give it to one of the slow group riders to run it in for me  Anyone interested thats going down????

Second session should be fun. As I have not had this Bike on the track at the Island since August Or Sept 1996  So am looking forward to trying to make it fall over

easy! Work 120 hours a week for 20 years, and you can almost do whatever ya want

You people mostly have your youth, I have the money and time. It's a crime isn't it. When we are young and fit and potentially fast, we can't afford the money or the time. When we have the money and time, we are too old to go fast.

Never been called that before  Old bastard maybe  Plick definately

Yeah it really sucks having not one, but two, racers with a bit o' history. Doesn't make em worth anything

Picked up the bike from the mech. this PM. turned out the misfire at P.I. on Monday was just a loose wire  All fixed and ready for tommorrows practice day, and hopefully it will remain reliable, and on two wheels for the entire weekend.

The Hartwell club round is heavily subscribed so we dont get many races. I think I get 4 practice sessions on Friday, then one each day and to races each day, Sat/Sun.

I will post results when I get back sunday nite.
