Hohohonda VFR750 Streetfighter???

Postby mile636 » Sat Jun 25, 2005 10:47 pm

Hi Guys & Girls

I'm thinking about buying this Hohohonda VFR750 and converting it into "streetfighter" style bike. I like streetfighter style bikes to some extent and I thought this may be a cheap opportinity to get a project going...

I need some expert advice so please feel free to post any suggestions or just tell me to sober up...

Well er um.....It would certainly keep you entertained for a while. The only thing is that sometimes these "projects" can become bottomless pits. I wouldn't touch it unless you or someone you trust can go look at it in the metal.

The problem is that it is located in Melbourne and I am in Brisbane...

I don't know if I should risk it though...

Has anyone had an experience with something similar?

Coconuts streetfightered his thundercat..

personally i wouldn't touch it, you're better of starting with something that's reasonable to start with, that bike looks like it's been neglected for most of it's life and is most likely stuffed.
Try the auctions, you should be able to get something a helluva lot newer for not a lot more money.. (eg an 03 zx6 went for just over 3g, fairings were stuffed at front - would have made an awesome streetfighter)
Either that keep an eye out at bike forums, trading post etc

Thanks Tanja,

I thought about auctions as well... There was an auction last Tuesday that i missed out on...

I'll probably go that way...

I just thought It may be a cheap project.... but it may not be...

Cheers...

I'm still considering buying the Hohonda...

The thing is, if it ends up costing up to $800-$900... it may still be worth a try. I would not try to spend much money on it. Just what is necessary for it to look better and be rideable. Its not like I will fork out a lot of money on it...

So all up I wouldn't want it to cost me more than $3000...

If I get something from the auction for $3000, like a 03 zx6r, that most likely I would want to make it as good as possible and for that I would need a lot more money which I dont have...

So the question is...... ummm I don't know, I need someone to do the thinking for me....

oh gee.. I'm tempted...

Ok I have a VFR750 93, been trying to make it a streetfighter since 00 when I bought it... (I have done 80,000km on it since than) so the 110,000 is nothing in terms on Km as VFRs go for EVER...

I have finaly worked out the instruments replacement (CBR250RR) and the mods for the rear... now all I need is the $$ to put it into practice...

On another note... that bike so looks like a loan bike from one of the mechanics here in melbourne it is not funny.. that bike has a bent frame... and according to the mechanic... the bike has dome close to 300,000 (I spoke to him last year so it could be more)...
