Whats the rules or do's and dont's when parking on the footpath in melbourne

Legal unless blocking a pedestrian thoroughfare, entrance/exit to a building, or otherwise signposted. Common sense stuff. You wouldn't want to leave your bike anywhere where people or other vehicles are likely to be in constant close encounters anyway, you'd just be inviting the inevitable.

the guidelines link is good i was wondering about getting to the parking spot thinking i should be very carefull not to mow down any pedestrians turns out ya gota push the bike to it

As long as you are just at walking pace you shouldn't have any problems staying on the bike.

Your supposed to but I never have just mount the curb close to where your going to park and with common sence nobody will hassle you.

(b) A driver may drive on a path if the driver is—

One of the bestest things i miss about Vic. Used to do it too in albury and no one seemed to care.

Have done it a few times in SA, you should see them freak lol
I have a very loose pebble drive, so now and then I park on open footpath. Got a raz from out local postie of all things.

Re the rules, like the guys said, just be courteous & you shouldn't hav any issues
