If you want a ZX6 already set up, you really won't find better value than Leanne's bike. I know lots of people say that about a bike they are selling, but I guarantee nothing in this price range will be as well set up or as capable as this bike. You can check it out here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=44793 and can ask Stu, Shawn, Parko and the other TARRds who have been on the track with Leanne how well it goes. It's easy to paint over the pink bits if they are not to your liking too. ;)

As Cliffy said, the MA Rec license is the cheapest option and you shouldn't have to do the competency if you have held a full license.

Just to clear up one of your other questions. if you turn up to a track day with an out of date or cancelled license, they will not let you ride. A young fella on his P's was refused registration last track day because his bike was not a LAMs approved bike. I states in the terms of agreement that you must have a current license and an approved bike for any license restrictions and they do enforce it.

Thank you for all of the useful advice and opinions.
So I have made a very difficult decision.
We are going to sell both of our road bikes and buy a pair of track dedicated 600's so we can race against each other (the Queen and I are a competitive couple).
I am thinking either ZX-6R at this stage but I will do some more research first.
Bike one is off to get detailed today and bike two is off tomorrow.
I have to find a racing club to join and then I can submit my application for my MA license and thankfully I have my old license which they will accept as evidence that I can operate a motorcycle. Yessss! (I am so glad I kept that; note: keep yours)
At this point I would like to say a big "Fuck you! I still get to ride!" to our government, legal system and police force just because it makes me feel better and I have an extra spring in my step now as a result of all of this.
