Looking at ZZR600 to replace my GPX250

Hi all,
I am looking for some feedback, i am thinking about buying a ZZR600 to replace my GPX250 and would like some comments. I ride 110k's a day and don't want something uncomfortable and am going to spend no more than $12,000

12 grand, that should buy a nicely run in ZX12R

Only joking, a ZZR600 would be comfortable, has good mid range power for around town and is no slouch in the twisties (ask tape). It's also a good step from the 250 - too many people try and jump on a thou and regret it later. Talk to your local dealer and ask about test rides, try the ZX6 and ZZR6 and see which you feel most comfortable on.

You could get a ZZR1100 for that kinda price these days.... So, if you only want a 600, i'd say it's going to be in pretty good nick.

good decision
and a nice jump from the 250
and
for $12large..you would get a new one!
I spoke to Brighton Kwaka (Vic) a few weeks ago coz they had a new one
in the showroom..and from memory NEW $11,200 plus on roads
says $12k max (and they can haggle)
and you have the 250 as trade-in
so its not going to cost you anywhere near $12k to get on one...

go for it!

As others have sadi the ZZR600 would be a good choice.
I didn't regret my upgrade from a GPX250 to the ZZR600 at all - twisties are no problem.
It was a little small for me - I'm 6ft and 105kg - but with the double bubble was comfortable enough.
Depending on your size (eg my size?) you may need to get a decent rear shock. But if you're of normal weight/size there should be no problem.

I think it's a good choice, but as mentioned have a look around. A ZX6R might be an option to - ride em both and see.
For your budget you can get pretty much whatever you feel like.

you would definately get a zzr600 brand new for that price from cosways in melbourne. i reckon a good buy if you want for commuting. Buy a new one, go on DO IT !!

Bahh ZZR600.

Z750!!! they are 9850 ride away at Whales Kwaka in Brissy. With the change I would be thinking Micron SlipOn or whatever floats ya boat and nice little seat cowl.

Why go for something that has technology thats 10 years old when a Z750 is brand new, has injection, 750cc motor, 18litre tank, ZX10R wheels, Digital dash with fuel gauge, I think weighs less than a ZZR and looks the goods and you could have the pipe and some tricky bits.

And is easier to service!! being no fairings an all.

That's a good point. Z750 would be a good choice too.
Toss-up as to whether you want naked or fairing.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me and thank you for all the feedback, I will definitely be looking for a new zzr600 and my main concern was the ten year old technology, though in hindsight if it aint broke don't fix it.
I will only be looking at full fairing bikes for wind protection and warmth on the legs.

I look forward to meeting some of you on some rides soon

I reckon wait until the new american 05' ZZR comes here, looks excellent and has the ZZR ergos and the ZX6R power.
