Had to share 91 zxr750 trackbike

Postby hipstir70 » Thu Feb 28, 2013 7:04 pm

Looked what arrived today. Going to be a busy weekend going through the bike.It was a ebay purchase & has a lot of goodies on it, kitted forks, ohilns rear, carbon pressurized air box intake under steering head intake, cr flatslides, head work & cams. Once sorted and race licence gained hopefully i will be able to get another greenmeanie out there. Any suggestions on what type of slicks & most common sprockets needed that are being used would be apprecitated.

She would be fairly happy with 16-42 or thereabouts But if you have lots of spares, have a play and see what feels best.

Very nice pick up, certainly sounds like you got yourself a well kitted bike there. Are you going to race with the PCRA?

ZXRPI as you say i have a few spares so i'll start with standard or there abouts and go from there.

Thanks Kev, yeah with the PCRA still in the process of getting licence and log book as i've never race before, never to old to start.

I'll post up pictures as i dig around in this bike, looks like it will be a good bike to start of with. I noticed a what looks like a aftermarket linkage setup when i had a quick look at the bike before heading to work tonight, i will post a picture tomorrow and maybe someone can shed some light on it.

Here's a picture of the rocker arm setup, can anyone shed any light on make.I know that the H would benefits due to the rear end being hard was this a case for the J aswell. When through the carbies last night at worrk pretty good condition, found the air screw wound right in, maybe thats why the previous owner couldn't get the bike to run properly under 3k.

You'll have a ball racing with the PCRA, they're a great club and almost everyone goes out of their way to help you.

That is definitely an aftermarket link but as to the make, it’s hard to say unless you can find some sort of markings stamped on there somewhere. From the welds and colour in the picture it looks like it’s made from mild steel and has been zinc plated rather than made from aluminium. The dog bones don’t look like OEM either. Good to hear you might have solved the low revs problem.

I know this is probably a huge ask, but is there any chance I can get the measurements of that linkage so I can make my own for my H2 to solve the rear problems they suffer from? I’ve been trying to source some info/dimensions on aftermarket linkages and suspension upgrades for ages without any luck.

Kev, that will be no trouble at all. You just want center to center on the dog bones? I'have a look tomorrow for you and pm you. If your after the shock linkage spec i'll be removing it and the swing to regrease very shorty.
Cheers Rob.
