Another one!?! Sydneysider ;-)

Postby gavmess » Tue Jan 29, 2013 3:44 pm

Hello to all Kawasaki mad internetters out there :D Hereby this can be regarded as my formal letter of introduction!

Last week I took delivery of a 1999 ZX9R in the blue/violet paint scheme :kuda: Not having a bike for 6 years made me a little stir crazy - last ride was a 2000 VTR1000 which met an untimely demise into a tree in the National Park, which resulted in me losing 2cm of height and gaining $15000 of titanium across 5 vertebrae as well as bleeding of the brain :? but luckily I was a miracle boy, only 6 weeks off work and back to 100% normal! But work, parents, g/f, some friends etc. were very much of the "bikes are EEEEVIL" brigade, so for their sake I have restricted myself to a ride a year when catching up with my Bike mates back in Adelaide (hometown).

Until now................

But now the Ebay gods looked kindly upon me and I picked this bike up at a great price, as with my other rides in the past i made a home in the corner for it and it is currently in 10000 pieces to be cleaned and put back together. Majority is now done and back together, but awaiting on a 'zorst ex America, mirrors and grips ex China - and a side fairing decal ex Brissy ;) interesting side story there, the decals I need - one side NLA the other $200 so a little worried as quite a few hours/days Googling was not gaining good results - but amazingly Ebay was 1/2 my saviour again when I found one new unused for $30! And with my ringing around to find a non-gen decal place, a sticker shop in Syd I was talking to has his only OEM sticker in his drawer is the other side :D :D So once the Brissy one gets here i'll pop into his place and he'll fit both - 'Tis a sign i tells ya ;-) the motorbiking powers that be demand I ride again 8)

I do a bit of travel for my work so popping over to Germany then Czech for 2 weeks, by the time I get back every component I need to finish the bike (hmm haven't given her a name yet!) will be awaiting for me @ work. mad weekend to fit everything up then off I go......... 8)

Why thanks y'all :D

Maddog - yip, that's the idea ;) no idea what happened with my crash, but know I wasn't in the "spirited riding" mood/mode - did have a shockingly hard compound rear tyre on though which I think was my undoing (had highsided @ Mallala track on the same tyre 4 months before).
Project update: Mirrors, exhaust and grips arrived today :kuda: Zorst fitted and sounds great, grips fitted and a tad shite (shoulda got open end ones, will try and cut them flush so they go on further and I can then put the bar ends on! The ones that came were part of the grips!?!)
