Opinions please from dog owners,

Hugo, our shi thzu is a perfect dog for us, love him in every which way, but ready to kick hiss little arse in the morning when he barks non stop as people do their exercise walk, with or without a dog, up the street.
I suppose apart from warning us of a potential danger, he also gets a bit frustrated by the fact that he can't get out and sniff their bottoms.
While joy is away, I thought I could train him out of it, but it seems quite a task.

Then I find these, which I intend to get, not much of an investment for the price of a couple of ice creams :

Has anyone had any good or bad experience with them?

The neighbours dog was called Percy, he passed away (drowned in an unfenced pool poor bugger) and because he adopted us, we really missed him once he was gone. That's when we decided to get one like him and shared the news with the neighbour who Percy belonged to. She then told us that Percy's half brother is being advertised in the local rag for sale. That was 1.5 years ago now.
He is in my hand as I'm typing here, we are close to say the least. Great company .
Shall take him down the beach later today, he loves that

I'm no guru Pete, maybe shoot Marty a pm he's a bit of a dog whisperer, but from my experience with our dog you get a much better result with positive reinforcement.

Eg if a dog takes a crap in your house, don't smack it or yell at it. Take the crap outside put it where you want the dog to crap, let the dog sniff it and then reward him. He then gets the idea that when he craps on the grass you're happy.

With our dog when she barks for attention we ignore her until she stops barking, then when she stops give her a pat and a "good girl".

Not sure how you apply this to your situation but there'll be a way.. As I said try and get on to Marty he'll have a plan.

Thanks Glen, I do realize that I'm siding with the lazy man's solution to the problem and like most of us try and short cut, not due to lack of caring, but simply because most of the time when it occurs, we are otherwise occupied so to have the time+patience to stop what we doing and follow through, is quite a task.
I'm determined to cheat first, if it works
I'll also talk to Marty as one can never know enough about dog related stuff.

A few minutes ago I had to rescue a bird, which flew into the house, Hugo was keen to get the bird, never seen him jump so high, but thanks goodness I've been able to get it and release it safely. Hugo was not impressed ..........

I used a bark collar that sprayed, but not citronella. Got it off eBay. It worked well. Made my little fella realise t
That the barking was unwanted behaviour. He doesn't need the collar now. I also use an electronic collar when I walk him because I walk off lead. It has a vibrate function that works well as a warning and generally he does what he's told, but that's because he knows that the next option if he continues to misbehave is a zap.

Managed to make him stop barking at once .... he loves fishing and loves being on the bike, so today we have tried this.
Jake, who does a coupe of days with us and who also has a couple of dogs said, he never seen a dog being so content in a relative restraint. I had him in there for a 10 minute period and he wasn't itching to get out

Whats the secret? While I dont have that problem with my dogs, the dog behind us is not far off having a pair of socks stuffed in its mouth.
