End of the Road???

Postby Errol » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:31 am

It may be the end of the road for my ZRX ownership... :(

After 11years & some 107,000 klms of essentially trouble free awsome riding :kuda:

Lynda & I have only just bought our first house together last december after nearly 20 years together, & now I get a phonecall out of the blue from a friend (local) who feels he has to off load his 08 'Busa due to his fifth child being all but here.

The 'Busa is 4 years old (just) & only done 10,700 klms, being offered to me sub $10,000 & finance by owner  .
I am now @ the end of a 2 week test ride & have decided it is the cheapest & probably only affordable way for me to move to a new(er) bike in the forseeable future.

I had stopped dragracing the ZRX due to milage & if I blow it up I will have nothing, the 'Busa can get me back on the strip :D .

I do "need" to sell the ZRX to pay a small lump sum to my friend, I don't want to, but I have verbally commited
I will serach all avenues to raise an equivelant sum & keep the Rex deregistered & stored if I possibly can, but with kid/s & a house payment & all normal life costs I think this is a dream scenario & not realistic.

If I sell the ZRX, I don't feel it can ever be replaced, certainly not by the 'Busa which is really a little bit pointless in these days of over the top speed tax enforcers.

Anyway just putting my thoughts to fellow ZRX owners, not really looking for answers or anything...
Image

Life could be worse for sure, but the ZRX still pulls @ me deep inside..

Sorry to hear mate  , I agree the Busa will not get the juices flowing like a ZRX. But you gotta do what ya gotta do.

Every time someone sells a kawasaki (in favor of another brand) an angel looses its wings. :(

Shame to hear you'll be ditching the ZXR. Hope you enjoy the new ride. :D

Maaaate......don't do it!!!!

Imagine how much of a sweet rebuild 10g's will put on the ZRX....have a good think about that.

I've always thought the cost of my '05 1200 I should've put into a complete rebuild of my
'99 1100 that i owned for 7 1/2 yr's and 149,000 k's. crybaby2.gif

Hmmm.....hindsight can't be changed. hat36.gif

Ditto what phil said though......

Maybe not the end of the road - just a detour .... ;)
I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..

Thanks Phil & Dutchy.

Stuzrx, mate if it was as simple as throughing the same money @ the ZRX I would do it in a heartbeat, but, I have trouble with getting mod/maintenance cost past the Missus now (she has never really taken to the ZRX, but loved my previous bike '87 CBR1000) I think she is a little jealous  .

Some how she took very little persuading to agree to the 'Busa, got me fuqued I can tell ya.., cause she is not even interested in going anywhere on any bike anymore, due to a couple of unrelated but permenant & painfull injuries she has accumulated. I can only assume she prefers the faired bikes.

I know I have drunk a few cans over the last 2 weeks whilst looking @ the 2 bikes side by side, & I still find more eyecatching & interesting things on the ZRX than I can find on the 'Busa.

But I understand where you are coming from mate, every (important/iconic) vehicle I have owned has been personalised by me to some extent, & every time you let them go you wonder what you could have done with the same outlay to replace them being pumped back into them.

Guess it's like old girlfriends, well the good ones anyway ;) .

For me, there is no bike I want more than my ZRX. There are much better bikes around than the ZRX, but none do it for me like the ZRX does, or are such a complete package. Took the ZRX for one of it's hardest strops last weekend and got off saying to myself 'fuck me this this thing is fast.' Busa would eat it in a straight line but word around the campfire is ZRX outhandles the Busa hands down.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Pull the motor out of the Busa and shoe-horn it into the ZRX.

Nelso, I like the idea of that & it had crossed my mind, not realistic for me, but a very worthy thought.

I think 'Busa power in MY ZRX would be f'ing scary, the 'Busa is supremely stable & planted on the road MY ZRX is a bit skitty as it is with a dynoed 132 RWHP.

BTW: Same dyno same day the busa I am buying put down 165 RWHP (4000K's on the clock), an ZX14 with similar K's put down 155 RWHP & 2 x Blackbirds 1 @ 128 & the other with full system, PC etc put down 136. So as you can tell it is not a flattering dyno, but I am more than happy with the figures relative to the big boys :D .

Started doing up a For Sale sign to put on the bike...., I did not think I had done to much to it in the way of mods or changes, just the usual bits & bobs.

Somehow I have a lot bigger list than I expected & looking over her last night theres still more  .

I think I need to put the price up 8) , maybe no one will buy it..

On the bright side I have been discussing with the Missus & if possible, I will be taking out a small loan to allow me to keep the ZRX (parked up & unregistered) :kuda: , still gotta see what the bank says though..

But I can see a small light @ the end of the tunnel, hope it' not a train :) .

So, are you going to offer it up for sale on the forum first? Not interested, just curious.

Dutchy, If it goes up for sale I will be trying to sell it local first, purely as I will be asking what I want for it not what I think the market will pay for, if that makes sense.

There are very few Nth Qld people on the board anyway so I don't think it would sell from here, if I lived 1000ks or more further south it would make some difference.
