an 80's ZZR 305cc??

Postby Tack » Mon May 23, 2005 4:03 pm

I heard today that there was a 1980's ZZR that was 305cc?? (Was it a 350cc not 305 maybe...sounded strange being 305cc)

Is that true?

Is this motor based on the current 250cc motor?

Does anyone know exactly the year, model and other details for this engine??

Would parts be still available for it?? Anyone know where I might find one?

...no..its an air cooled twin, the current is water cooled..better

Does anyone know exactly the year, model and other details for this engine??
the model is EX305A and the bike was from '82 to about '90
the same emgine was used in the LTD cruiser model...

Would parts be still available for it?? Anyone know where I might find one?

why? this is an old engine, not as good as the current 250
parts? hard to find and expensive...

what you want miracles too??? hehehe
Tack
I am guessing here
but your barrels won't take a 305 pistons
even fully bored out
unless they also increased the stroke a lot to get to 305cc
why?
that will teach me for chucking the bloody manual
when i sold the GPz250

our mate ratmick has been a visiting BuyKawasaki
by the looks (thanks Mick)
but still no clue as to size

Tack
why not just a bigger bike or you like the 250....?

well done Mick...

still think it wont work.....unless..hmmm
maybe swapping barrels and rods/pistons might work on an older GPz250
think that works...

pretty sure though
won't work on later water cooled2fiddys though...

and one thing...
you MUST get the valve clearances correct on these engines
otherwise you burn the valves...I know! :(

Mick
what else ya got..? :D

cheers

Thanks for all the info....

The bottom line is that I have to stay on 250cc restriction for 12 months and I am not happy with the power......I reckon a push bike would have a better power to weight.....

thanks again

I know it's hard but if you can learn to ride the bike without worrying about the power you'll be better off when you finally get the power...and handling...and sticky tyres...etc etc etc
