2011 ZX-10R Brake system

Postby Phil » Fri Apr 06, 2012 10:02 am

So I purchased some 2011 ZX-10R Calipers and it also includes the M/C, I am wondering if I should swap out the entire system in the Z and put this one on (with my existing braided lines) or just put the calipers on. I had no issue with the existing M/C just that the "gold Tokico" that are known to be crap feel crap after riding the Nissin equipped ZRX (and the Brembo monoblocks on the 1090RR Brutale)

Whadda you think? I mean its all here ready to go ;) Unless someone wants the M/C (complete with lever etc) and makes me an offer I can refuse

Yep change the whole system. Whilst the new ones are good they are still not Hothem proof even with the bigger M/C.

Thats OK, the Zed wont be going to Hotham anytime soon, that what the ZRX is for ;) My last 2 runs down there have been in the wet  Not much braking required on that shiny crappy road surface ;)

So 1 vote for change the whole thing

2011 ZX-10R Brake system

I reckon stick with the stock mc. It will look factory still.
Otherwise you will have the little bottle and stuff to mount.

Sell the mc off.

Try it with the Z MC and if they don't feel right put the ZX one on. I wouldn't sell it off yet, just in case it's the radial MC that makes the new Tokicos work ok.

Good point that, Wattie does have a point too about the bottle res as opposed to the OE Z one, wouldnt look as odd as if I did it on the ZRX - hydraulic clutch - though with the cable clutch on the Z. Bottle wont require mounting as its all part of the M/C assembly.

Be interesting to see what Rod thinks of the current brakes on the Z when he takes it for a spin tomorrow  , something to do his his bike being it bits all over the floor

Also, forgot to mention, big thanks to Hoffinator Ind for assisting with the procurement. Its is a brand new  complete 2011 ZX-10R brake system less pads and mounting bolts  It even still has tjhe fluid in it   I did want Nissins like on the ZRX but none around at a price comparable with what I got this kit for
