06 636 vs 09 600

Postby Warezwana » Tue Sep 13, 2011 12:10 pm

I am just wanting to get some feed back from people who have owned the 06 636 and also 09 600.
I am wanting to upgrade my poor old girl and thinking about the 06 636 if I can find a nice clean one but then read the other day how the 09 600 got a big work over and came out with good reviews.
Is the 09 worth the extra cash, is it more forgiving or stable on corners than the 06 for a not so begginner/not quite Intermediate rider, I have not heard bad things of the 636 so that was my preference at this stage.

the 09's are faster around a track in stock form.

I rode an 06 and 09 back to back, well actually the other way around. was a good 2 secs quicker on the 09, and i rode it 1st.
oh and the 06 had nice Ntec slicks (read: awesome tyres)

as for the road? no idea... :?

As with Wattie the 09 is faster and to me just a better more capable bike. That is saying that the 06 is a very capable bike and is a great looking roadie

i own the 09 and my brother has an 06.

06 - better for the street due to the torque
09 - better up the top.

I prefer the 09, it feels lighter and more flickable

Thanks guys for the feedback so far... it looks like it doesn't really sound like there is much in it then and maybe more personal.
As much as I do like the 06 and the sexy under seat exhaust and larger CC's I do prefer the 09's display and the review sounds great, I also read about a higher reving kit for it allowing an extra 1500 RPM.
Hmmm (thinking), I do want it for track days though.

That higher reving kit is the Race ECU, don't know anyone in Australia who can tune it. Nothing there aren't any... but with 17500rpm you might want to get stiffer springs.

06 636 vs 09 600

Postby fireyrob » Wed Sep 14, 2011 6:25 pm

Riden both. Both models great :)

Prefer my 09-10 after zenodampner worked on the suspension :D From standard it felt a bit nervous for my 95kg fatass  Not to say the 05-06 wouldnt do the same with a suspension guru!

Id say if your looking to gain a second or two in laptimes and your in the pointy end of fast group or racing then the newer model. If like me the kudos of the newer bike was tempting but couldnt ride either model better than the other.

Go test ride one and decide from there ;)

With that kind of RPM i would nearly think about a 6 wow what a screamer purely for aural satisfaction, or in laymen's terms, revin it's tits off a. :kuda:

If you are doing Track days, I would recommend getting both bikes :o
One for the road and one for the track..... If you track your road bike and crash it, it will cost you more to repair it than what you can buy a track ready 600 for at the moment........ or buy one and track your old girl ;)

06 636 vs 09 600

Postby Jonnymac » Thu Sep 15, 2011 4:14 pm

I haven't ridden anything in between but I've just upgraded my 2004 ZX6RR to a 2009 ZX6R

I didn't notice a huge difference I probably thought it felt slightly more refined. It's basically putting out the same HP.1.5 more.
Although I did do a pb on it during my 5th session. That could simply mean it was familiar so I got up to speed on it quickly.

I had an 09, ran it in at the track completely stock, was nearly doing pb's taking it easy. This is compared to a zx7r racebike which had a full system and race rubber. I havent ridden a 05-06 636 but id imagine it would b a better roadie, 09 better trackie. Having said that i used the 09 as a roadie and if u r upgrading from a lams bike u wont think its gutless. The tacho on the 636 is shithouse compared to the 09 6.
