zx10r 06 yoshimura exhaust

Postby fadz90 » Tue Nov 16, 2010 8:48 pm

Hey guys,
i just recently put on my yoshimura full exhaust, just a query i have, it feels like the exhaust now is abit hotter then the previous one, i was thinking of heat wrapping it, good choice or not? just incase it starts to heat up or possibily damage some of the lines/wires the run near it.

i would like your insight

cheers fadi.

I have the same problem with my full Muzzy. As long as you are not sitting still with the motor running for long periods at a higher than idle RPM you should not have a problem as the circulating air will keep it cool when you are moving. I did, however make sure that anything close to the new exhaust was as far away as possible. I did actually move the horn as it was getting way hot.

Fadi there would be nothing to loose using a wrap, I take it you are just talking about the headers to the collector box? I think from memory its about $60 for 1 inch & $90 for 2 inch, Motorsport connections or Rocket industries for the good stuff ;) being Drag racing shops they don't stock the crappy cheep wrap, don't forget to get stainless ties either.
Been thinking of doing the six3six as the headers are starting to show allot of surface rust visible through the fairing openings

Don't wrap it if it's titanium

hey guys, thanks for the heads up, yea pretty much the headers to the collector box, its a pretty system i put on stainless steel full yoshimura TRC carbon fibre canisters

I've been trying to find some stainless steel ties which i was told a electrical data wholesaler should have some and a mate of mine has some wrap that hopefully i can get off him so see how that goes.

The only thing that worries me is because of the heat the radiator is going to cop alot of the heat which i want to reduce as much as i can.

and also as i took the old system off i have the cables left over from the butterfly throttle control in the exhaust which was right next to the right side foot peg, in the manual it says if i take the cable motor off it can cause the bike to go into safe mode, now i don't have any problem in tieing it up to the side so it doesn't get in the way of anything but is there anything else i can do with these cables?
