Just found a nitro x racing performance thingy on my bike!!

Postby pungent » Thu Nov 11, 2010 6:11 pm

I have owned the bike a couple of week's and finally got around to checking the filter on my 03 ZX6R.

As I looked at the top of the air box I noticed the IAT was not connected.

After searching through the wiring I found the plug for the IAT with two wires hanging out of it, after following the wires to the rear of the bike I found them connected to a Nitro X racing performance chip thingy.

The young bloke I purchased the bike from had very little idea of anything about the bike.

The bike has Braided front brake lines, K&N filter, akropovic muffler and now I find this.

Everything else I see as a benefit and someone at some time has spent a bit of money on the bike BUT this Nitro X thingy is a cheap and bad reputation supposably peice of junk.

I tune my own V8 commodore and I know there is not a lot to be gained by just tricking the air temp sensor into thinking something that is not true and quite often you can go backwards.

Has anyone had any experience with this particular product.

My bike runs fine and pulls hard and strong through every gear to redline( limiter if your not careful).

To just pull it off a small gain that it may be making probably would not be noticed.

I apologize for my dumb post.

I thought about it (and it hurt a little) from my own EFI tuning experience.

If the ecu can tune the fuel and ignition curves to the correct air temperature that is entering the engine then the engine is going to operate at its maximum potential for the throttle position you'r at. DOH!

And by now having to govern the throttle position by my right wrist to keep the bike from doing a back flip all the way to the limiter in first gear I would say somebody in the past wasted there money.

After an hour of googling earlier and not finding an actual experienced answer from my experience the bike runs noticably better WITHOUT a Nitro X chip thingy. That includes performance and normal riding. Idle also improved.

It also explains why when I chopped my muffler down it had heaps of black soot built up in it.

I am now more impressed with my new bike!!
