unfortunately made use of frame sliders :( now need help....

Postby zx14ninja » Tue Nov 09, 2010 6:14 pm

Hey Guys,

Last night on a cruisy ride home from a friends house a lovely old couple decided to pull out in front of me (from being parked on the side of the road) then hit the brakes when they realistic i was there... anyway long story short me and my 3week old zx14 went sliding down the road (yes i managed to miss the car) after taking it home and not having the heart to look at her last night i have just done a quick inspection.... (left hand side only) front & side fairing, bar end, mirror, tail fairing, exhaust, taillight (??don't ask) stand spool and i think lever.... some bits where aftermarket like the bar ends spools etc so i can just replace them with the factory items for now and i have sourced a cheap fairing (full set) brand new, as well as my brocks alien head exhaust which was already on the way.... now for my PROBLEM.... the valter moto frame sliders took an amazing amount of the damage as the above mentioned are all just cosmetically damaged grazed etc and the bike is still straight and rides exactly the same (good job valter moto!! definitely recommended).... anyway where the frame slider screws into the engine mount or whatever that bit is apart of, has broken... i wanted to know before i start pulling the fairing and everything off and have a heart attack how easy is that to fix/replace?? is it expensive?? is it alot of work??

Please any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated!!

also if by any chance anyone knows where i can get any of the above mentioned parts eg. fairing or some nice mirrors please let me know.

THANK YOU

Why aren't the lovely old couple paying for this :? :?
Get onto their insurance company and restore your bike with brand spanken new OEM parts........
or get onto your insurer and they will chase them if you can identify them

Fark ZX14 and 'no' insurance!

Lot of $$$ to risk.

I know one young man who had a ZX9R and didn't have full insurance but had the sense to invest in some 3rd party only, it was well worth it ;) and the bike wasn't that expensive and I could afford to loose it

If you have an engine lug broken and all that fairing damage I'm sure it would be written off, keep pushing their insurance.

get the professionals involved quick i reckon.

lawyers fee should be covered by him if/when his insurer has to settle.

Ring the coppers and make a report (in NSW it's PAL 131 444) the insurance company will want it. Then keep onto the old couple and get them to claim on their insurance. Tell them you spoke to the coppers and the witness, etc, etc etc... and the witness is willing to go to court etc..... Keep the pressure on them, cause yes, it's a very expensive fix or a write off......

I reckon you might have a different opinion of the lovely old couple in a little while ;)

thanks smithy "lovely old couple" was meant with sarcasm haha

i rang the old man again today and told him to either ring his insurance company tomorrow and make the claim or he would be receiving a letter of demand from a solicitor along with a quote, police report (which i will go and get done tonight). i have spoken to the lady that was driving behind me and saw the accident, she said she is more than happy to come to court if it has to which is good. he also said i was "probably" speeding and all this other bulls#*@ so i called his insurance company and they said he can say i was doing 300km/h and it wouldn't stand up in a claim or court if it gets to that.

the guy i spoke to from his insurance company was actually astonished how stupid the old man is and why he didn't just pay his excess and get it over with... he said people occasionally pull these sort of stunts when the other party (me) don't have insurance because they think no insurance no defense.... little does he know if he doesn't claim and it goes to court his insurance company will not cover anything including my bike his legal and my legal fees... it was reassuring when someone from his insurance company looking at his report said he doesn't really have much of a chance of wiggling his way out no matter what way it goes.

i was looking at all these parts etc just to know what sort of damage there is.... ps i found out that engine mount that snapped is $79 and about 20minute job nothing major :) so hopefully if old man pulls his head out of his arrr.se it should be sorted soon otherwise it will be a long haul to the magistrate....

All i can say is thank God you got a witness, that was your only salvation.
Next up after this headache is sorted, get 3rd party property if you can't afford comprehensive.

hey mate,

i agree, it is their fault they caused you to crash, hence they are responsible.
They obviously dont want to do the "right" thing and stand up and admit they did the wrogn thing, its pretty clear from them trying to blame you.

Keep on at them, it could be a tad bit unpleasant. But fuck them im sure if the roll was reserved they more than certainly be coming after you.

Also just cause you have no insurance doesnt mean you have no defence at all! Go get em tiger, i wanna see a new ZX14

It amazes me how people can change the past in their mind to suit them, especially when cash is involved.
Hope it all pans out in your favour. Got any pics of the damage?
Happens too often people changing lanes or pulling out.. THEN looking

i rang the couple who came out and gave me a hand getting up and off the road... i asked him if it was ok to pass on his details to the police for the report because the old coksuka is trying to screw me.... all he said was they admitted fault in front of him and if he gets a phone call from the police he will tell them exactly that! i cant believe it for a a couple hundred dollars worth of excess he is trying to get away with it... im telling you boys now if he even attempts to screw me any further ill rip him a new asshole....

dropped the bike off at k&j thomas today to get it quoted up the old coksuka wants a quote that he will "apparently" send to his insurance company even though he has not yet made a claim.... i hope this doesnt end up in a courtroom but i will sue the piece of shitt if i have to....

WOW  that only took a few days from lovely old couple to coksuka's. Keep that fighting spirit when your dealing with them and you shouldn't need to go to court, they should flounder shortly ;)
