Postby Gav » Sat Nov 06, 2010 5:33 pm

Changed the tensioner on the zxr recently and I thought I'd post.
It was quite an easy job and I'm sure it saved me a few bucks too.
It really quietened it down.Hope this helps others...Cheers...G..

It's on the right hand side of your engine..

You'll need a 1/4 inch drive 10mm socket with a universal attachment

Undo the top and bottom bolts.Note; Carbs not removed..But it will make the job easier if you do..

And now just ease it out... At this stage of the job DO NOT crank over your engine you will cause major damage when it fires up

Put the new one in,not forgetting to put the O ring on..

Then put the tension spring in and tighten the bolt up ..not to tight or it will strip the thread out.
Then thats pretty much it..

It really was much quieter when the new one was installed, and it only took me a few hours to do..

Love a good write up, especially with pics! Awesome stuff Gav ;)
Just another guy wishing he'd been a mechanic instead of pushing pencils.
