scotty & cat , has this guy got you on a retainer or what ?

p.s. hey scotty how many k's on that 12 now ?

rjbert

No retainer, just an interest in cheaper tyres now I tear em up even quicker than before, add it up and it's like $6000+ a year just in tyres.

Bike has 11000Km on it. On 3rd rear 2nd front.
Thankyou for the question.

Mick (also known as mick the magician or god apparently) might know what he's talking about, but i'm prob not the only one who's sick of hearing about him  Yes he's cheap, but I'll be buggered if I'm getting someone who balances the tyre by eye to fit them on my bike.

Well they seem to be very well balanced at 260kmph- perfect even, but they could be out of balance at 261 to 299kmph who knows as it was too wet today to go harder.
Thankyou for the comment, and a valid point.

Good point, Iam not entirely sure but there would be many different choices in slicks in profiles, belt construction yadda yadda against one or two types for road tyres. Yes If I do do it I will let you know.
Anyway Stu you know what the rear of the 12's are like so a bit of slip and a slide here or there is nothing, actually makes for more fun 8)
Thanks for the interest.

Ok, enough said from me on tyres so I will re-tyre from the subject completely. I have hijacked this post enough, sorry.

Well if you have enough money suppose you could go and buy your tyres anywhere, however how did they used to balance a motorcycle tyre before electronic balancing? yeah I know Mick gets a good wrap in here but people in here only trying to help out!!!

The point I was trying to make is that everytime someone mentioned tyres Brett starts the "Mick this, Mick that.. "
If people want to go there, I don't have a problem, it's their choice. If they can spare the time to ride all the way out to Goodna and sit there for hours to save a bit of money fair enough.

But I'm also reasonably sure they invented electronic tyre balancers for a reason..

Without getting involved, I will make a couple of comments.

1. My tyres and most others at the race track are balanced by eye (more gravity really). They work fine at speeds up to 280kph,...

2. This forum is like the TV, if you don't like or aren't interested in something don't read it. The keyboard is easier to operate than a remote and you may not loose it as much... There are acceptions of course, and some ppl do need to told, I'm not sure this is one of those occasions...

3. We all know what opinions are like, and this a great place to express them but lets not get toooooo personal. Some things may not be read in the manner they were written.

Thankyou for your time... now back to picking on Neka...:-)

Ok im up for new tyres on the zx9, they have the pilots (factory standards) and they have lasted for 11k, rat shit though from the highway riding... need more twisties. Anyway the main question is "what have other zx9 tamers used for tyres and why?"

Something for $ vs Kms till rat shit vs Grip = my tyre
Cheers

I'm not having a go at Brett, but this was the original question, not what does Mick say.. He wants to know what zx9 riders have used on their bikes and what did they think of them, personally.
And I read the thread because I'm up for new tyres, and therefore the topic is interesting :)

PS. Neka sucks :finga:
