GPZ1987 600r FUEL CONSUMPTION.

i have a gpz600r and have noticed that it is useing fuel like that!! well i do around 200+ kms on the tacko and theres a full tank almost gone. as im new to road bike and as this is and older bike then many of other use im jast asking wheather this is the normal consuption of fuel or does it need sometink looked at.... help would be great

the bike is goin to the shop tuesday for a service and new tread on rear. if i know what to ask them to check will be great or even beta give me sometink to cheak but im not that good on the tools

first up - when you get the new tyre take it easy for the first 100kms. Try to minimise your lean angle until the tyre is scrubbed in.

Your fuel consumption depends on how you ride - ride hard and fast with redlined gear changes and you'll use more fuel than riding gently. Tyre pressures are what they are supposed to be?

Have the carbs been modified in any way - jet kits etc? Do they match your pipes? Hows your air filter?

What is the condition of your spark plugs - this will tell you a lot about how your bike is running.

Lots of variables but each one can usually be tracked down. Having a service is the first step - does that include doing the valves?

thanks waynemorgan im sure the service includes the valve clearences checked. im a new rider(roadbikes) i dnt red line it hardly ever rev it to 5grand as it redlines at 11 that said i may give it a few squirts in a ride(after corners). the bike it stock as a roak as far as i know ie the carbs, pipes, air filter and sparkplugs are orignial. sorry but i dnt kow any history hench thats why its goin 4 a service.
on first start up it does run rough and little rattley but all that goes away when warm doesnt blow smoke of any kind.
i will go steady on the new rubber till it wears a little for sure thanks

i have been quoted for the service close to $500 for the service plus the tyre. that sound fair
