Really cool thing with my kid today

Postby cowprint » Tue Mar 29, 2005 10:08 pm

For those of you that dont know I have two sons John 6 and Paddy 4. I had John over today after he got back from easter holiday for a few hours and he was helping me inthe garage and as per normal climbs on the bike. After an hour of begging pleading and promises to be good, dad finally caved in and took him for a ride along the street.
Those of you with kids who have done this will likely understand how cool it feels, I mean its pretty cool taking a mate for a ride somewheres but taking ya lil one for a quick spin at walking pace hearing their squeals of laughter and delight is unreal.
His little face was lit up brighter than a christmas tree a few of my friends came over and he had to tell everyone about it, pretty cool stuff..
Although when I took him back to his mother I thought Id be in the poo but she now uses that as a means to get him to do better at school or he wont be on daddys bike again! Guess things just work out pretty good in the end eh.
Just thought it was pretty cool and some might like to read this.

I know exactly how the Feels Steve. Priceless.
Enjoy it mate before too long it'll be dad can we use the car "mum cant find me long pants, helmet, Handbag etc. I bought a clip strap which went around both our waists when they were little but only really doubled them from about the age of 9.

Took me 12 years to get my old Man on one of me Scoots, we set him up on the back for a photo ....... I selected first n rode off around the block

Said it wasn't as scarey as he thought later that night after he'd settled down again. He hated bikes with a passion from his younger brother crashing way too often.

cheers Brett

Hiya Steve, great story, I took my youngest for a spin on the farm bike at my sisters farm, he loved it but he told his mother on thephone that night I didnt need the a phone to hear the response, but he finally badgered her (me) into getting him a mini bike though !!

That's cool..
Just wondering how old would they need to be? Is there a rule?
My daughter Lila is turning Five now and she's really keen on riding with me..of course since I'm only a learner rider - I do not think its a good idea..

That's really cool... Not in a hurry to experience it.. But I'm sure it'll happen soon enough.

I'm really looking forward to taking my daughter out when she's a bit bigger. For now she has to settle for sitting on the bike after she's helped me clean it.

haha reecey looks like hes giving sum kind of salute??
good work guys, nice thing u did there garry, i tend to do a similar thing, as a good will gesture i pick up hot girls in skimpy outfits & take them for rides while they squeel in excitement...lol...ok maybe ur experience is more morrally rewarding , but i enjoy my way too.
BA hey?? i use to ride with them b4 i moved to SA, as have a few of the others on here...

Also the law states that the pillion has to b able to have both feet reach the pegs, i believe that is the only criteria.

Great stories. Image

The advantages of living in a quiet court in a quiet estate, no one minded us putting around on Sunday arvo's
Image

Always told him we'd go for a ride on the road bike when he could reach the footpegs, 1st test ride around the block on the ex's bike.
Image

Had to deck him out in dirt gear as there's not a lot of road gear around for kids. We're up to around 40-50 minute stints now. (Just quiet rides visiting friends etc).
