A call to all J model ZXR owners

Postby parto » Thu Oct 08, 2009 5:18 pm

I am looking at a single seat cowl for my ZXR 750 1992 model (J) at eastern creek motorcycle wreckers in sydney the only problem is that i live 400 kms away and the photo's he has sent me make me think it may be off a 1993,1994 model because it doesn't seem to have the bottom bolt holes in it and the tail light section looks a little different.
I dont know how to post photo's but i can send you a photo through email, so if you think you can tell me if it will fit or not please send me a PM and i'll forward the photo's (I really need a single seat piece).

Thanks heaps

Re: A call to all L model ZXR owners

A 1992 model ZXR 750 is a J model (has the Hoover hoses through the fairing/tank) '93 onwards was L model (L1 for '93, L2 for '94, etc.)
The tail unit off a J will fit an L with a bit of fiddling but the mounting points are different so you'll have to make some mounting adaptors & the bit where the tank meets the front of the side panel is shorter & a different shape so they're not really interchangeable.
Are you looking for a seat cap or a Race style tail unit? I have a fibreglass replica M model tail section for sale if that's what you're after (M is the limited edition version of the L)
PM me the pic if you like & I'll compare it to my one.

Plus a ZX7 & a few ZXR Ls & ZX9 Bs & Cs in various stages of completion.

As Darren said, a 92 model isn't an L. I'm also happy to have a look at the pics you've got if you want a second opinion - I'm not selling my spare body work but I'm happy to have a look at the pics and see if they look like they'd fit.

Cool. Well in that case I'm not a J owner so probably can't help.

I just had a really good look at the both of them and it's definatly not a J model. The end that finishes up against the tank is alot shorter and at a different angle i'm really only after a rear seat cover.

If you're interested, I have an ex-Phillis WSB J-K single seat tailpiece ; thin it's carbon but not entirely sure. In excellent nick, $100 and it's yours.

Cheers,
