Yesterday afternoon we received a phone call from a lady friend of ours who just moved real close to where we live with her husband at the back of their kids place they just 80% finished renovating a small bungalow say 300 metres from our place. They are in their early sixties , just retired.
She called and was in total shock. She said : A terrible accident happened ,Trevor has just chopped his hand off, he was using a circular saw and he cut it between the wrist and the elbow so that the saw thrown it away from him.

I know it sounds like a bizarre horror movie, his grand daughter find him ( she is 16) and a few minutes after it happened his wife returned home to learn about the disaster. As she was a special needs teacher before retiring she had enough training in first aid as well as common sense to kind of know what to do. It was a horrific sight, the way she described it.
Ambulance been called and he had to be air lifter to Royal North Shore where a leading specialist had to perform a 16 hour surgery and re-attach the chopped off left hand.
He is now, not quite a day after it happened is able to move 3 of the 5 fingers and providing there is no infection, can be looking forward to recovery.
Thanks to medical science and support system in place ..
