FI light coming on ???

Postby Gosling1 » Wed Aug 05, 2009 9:05 pm

got an odd one....

whenever I give the MFP12 a thrashing - the FI light comes on. It seems to make nil difference to how it runs.......?? and this is when its *thrashed*, not just when its thrashed..... (ie plenty of redline action..)

its weird. I can turn the ignition off, and then re-start the bike.....and no FI light ?

anyone had this happen to their 12 ?? Is it something I should worry about ?? Will tank-foam fix the problem ??

Gos you have answered your own question, tank foam will solve all your problems, including the rectal itch you developed form riding on a bare alloy race seat ;)

Is there a specific patter to the blinking that might indicated a diagnostic code or is it just a standard cry for help?

Gos, your living up to your name...Goose. That's a Fart Indicator...whenever you thrash it it's just telling you there was a little brown action downstairs...... :)

had a look - not quite the same, Cath's light just comes on randomly, and drops out again....

Mine - only ever comes on when chasing Marty or Wattie or sometimes Mick C, those big pistons (don't forget that Wattie - they are *big* mofo's !! ) are revving their tits off.......may hit the rev limiter a couple of times......and heh presto, the FI light comes on and stays on.....not blinking at all, just *on* ....staring me in the face......its unnerving !!

not flashing at all mate - just 'on' and staying on, until the key is turned off......then once I kick 'er in the guts again........no light ???

thanks for the input - valued !! Rob, you need a race bike with a HTFU alloy seat mate, thats what seperates the cheeks from the undies !!

could be a problem with the fuel injection system you might have to hook it up to a comp and check it out

thanks Rumbles - it doesn't seem to cause any issues while I am riding it with the FI light on....thats what I can't work out ? If the FI system was having a problem of some sort, surely I would be able to 'feel' this when riding it ??? But I can't feel any difference to how the bike works at all.......it still revs its tits off, runs hard through all the gears......basically it makes SFA difference to how it runs. And, as soon as I turn the ignition off, then back on again......the FI light is out, and the bike continues to run perfectly......

I guess it just shits me that this light just comes on and glows at me for no reason I can work out...... :?

not that I have noticed ?

I'm gonna run this one past old mate at the dealer, see what he reckons.....it could even be just a warning light for hitting the rev-limiter too often ??  I have NFI really - but one thing - it makes no difference to how the bike performs .... :?

The only thing I can think of is maybe it's something to do with the secondary's not being there anymore and the CPU isn't seeing something it's expecting when you're fully on it :?
