My opinion is - it's ridiculous.

which roundabout disco?

google maps?

We can't avoid them, they're everywhere, but we can choose how we ride through and around them.

That's the roundabout near the RTA ? The car driver was probably going to renew his license, should have stayed at home !!

With small r/bouts there's hardly anytime to think anyway so we should always give way to the right

You pretty much have to anyway, whoever is coming from the right already IS on the roundabout, no amount of speeding up will change that, its more or less the same rule, just re worded. I believe that the reason they say to give way to whoever is in first, is for the event that traffic has slowed in a roundabout, that people dont just go careening into the back of others expecting them to have given way.

I see the problem with that round-a-bout; some tool has drawn gray lines all over it

I must have missed something when I was learning to drive.

I thought all roundabouts operate in a clockwise direction, this bike is the red arrow, unless he was traveling at a ridiculously high speed would not have been the first in the round about, that is prior to the car and bizarrely enough he was coming from the right. What difference would it have made under a rule of give way to the right?

I am not sure how give way to the right would be better then give way to traffic already in the roundabout, unless you assume fastest is first.

CORRECT............. you drive around them in a clockwise direction.............so car being at 10:00 o'clock should give way to biker at 06:00 o'clock........assuming bike has entered first.....if not car would already be clear..........................................unless bike was knee down and ...very quick

other is both enter same time no problem ..unless bike is knee down and...very quick

The biggest problem i encounter at round a bouts is total f..... w..... who hesitates way to long..or as has unfortunately happened in this circumstance...gone didn't see the bike "i was looking at the cars" ...or fuck it its only a bike

didn't see it they never do......................and i'm guilty of that....on an occassion (while caging) and i do try and look see and allow room generally.... on R/abouts though two wheels has right of way for me.....cos they scare me when i'm on the bike commuting daily.

my two bits mehhh

You want to try Milton Keynes in England. It's a modern city designed on a grid system, and every corner is a round-a-bout. You can plan a short journey, never get above 3rd gear and navigate 15+ round-a-bouts. It's a bloody nightmare.
