ZX10R suspension mods

Postby FuTAnT » Fri Feb 25, 2005 2:04 pm

Hey people

Just got a second hand ZX10R and I was wondering if anyone on here has gone down the road of modifying the suspension, ie different spring rates and revalving etc etc.

Any comments, previous experience etc would be helpfull. It doesn't feel too bad at the moment, but they can always be improved.

Cheers

ummmm..... BASTARD.!!! I want one of them... :D

Just Joking... Great choice in machinery.... What do you pay for a 2nd hand 10 in Sydney atm...

Theres been a couple of zx10 suspension set ups floating around here. I have the one out of AMCN with the masterbike suspension settings if you'd like that, but if your looking into revised spring rates and valving they don't go that far as that is usually set for individual weights and riding styles. Give Terry Hay a call, I'm sure he can give you the hot tip...

The ones I've seen around are fetching around the 16k mark, maybe a little less. I got mine a bit cheaper than that though, due to some certain factors. Just did an oil change on it then, will take it out for a spin around the beaches a bit later.

I seem to remember that Performance Bike Mag (UK) did a setup test recenlty, you should be able to get it on back-order.
Motorcycle's are inherently unstable...

I have a copy of that mag they revalved the back shock with a k valve piston and revised the shim stack to stop it from locking up under power which causes the head shakes.

Its the same thing that makes 03-04 6rs try to launch their riders over square edge bumps (to much high speed dampening).
