You can go overboard with lock-wiring......its really only the following things that need lock-wiring....

Oil-filler cap
Radiator overflow tank-filler cap

Any fluid drain-plugs - eg.
oil drain / oil filter plug.

Brake bolts may be lockwired as well, but I have seen people lockwire things like sprocket retaining nuts, upper and lower shock mount nuts, even rear brake resevoir mounting bolts !! :roll:

If you do intend to lock-wire any bolts with Allen heads - do yoursekf a favour and get titanium-coated drill bits (the gold ones) - normal drill bits will struggle with Allen heads, especially the black bastards !!!! :lol: :lol:

Good info guys..

Yep Gos, new rule requires front brake caliper to be lockwired.

I did my 750 with wire and clamp from bunnings, 1.5 / 2mm drill bits from e-bay (bought 10 broke 5 but did the caliper bolts on the 10 too)) and pair of pliers and vice grips.. Cost about $15 (I'd already spent too much on the bloody thing. :? )
I would have loved some of those lock wire pliers at the time.
Luckily we don't have to do as much as they do in the states..

tries to find the .5kg wire at Bunnings but no avail. Does anyone know the exact guage of the wire (I think that is how it is measured? :? )

Bunnings have plenty of wire...

pic below shows bunnings wire .9mm thick (gal) and m/c shop lock wire .7mm thick (s/s)...

The proper M/C shop wire is better, it can be twisted and bent more before breaking and will last longer..

Yeah I meant they dont have stainless Dave...... the gal fencing wire bunnings have is shite :lol: especially when you want to wire up a broken rearset :oops:
