Riding comfort for older riders (maybe??)GLOVES

Long rides.Speed limits.Can't make it interesting ALL the time.OK, I,ve mastered the chicken dance and that helped. I got a throttle rocker, and that was great. Got a custom fit sheepskin seat cover today and did Wisemans, EXCELLENT . No more tackle wacking into the tank over bumps and stopped my knee from hitting the frame rail ( gotta get used to the LOOK tho. ).Only prob I still have is fingers (usually right index and little finger) STILL go to SLEEP! Not such a major issue with the throttle rocker (HIGHLY recommended BTW) but still annoying. Started thinking about my GLOVES.They are "RACE TEK Octane" XL size (I'm 6'2" slim build,long fingers). They are "snug" when I pull them on, get tighter when I grip. Is this right? In "the old days" gloves were loose but with all the vents,knuckle-dusters,extra layers,etc., of modern gloves, I kinda expected them to feel tight, but I'm wondering now if that is correct? Anyone got any feelings on this? Sorry if this is a "USELESS" post, I did do a search first. MODS, does this board encompass "stickys"?

i have a pair of tight gloves and loose gloves and my right hand always falls asleep in both pairs, i thought it was to do with the positioning of my hand, i find it's only on longer rides and i get cramps pretty easily too. Sometimes i notice myself using the handlebars to hold myself up, but then again i'm just lazy.

I'm also an older rider and had those problems when I was putting too much weight on my hands. got tank grips

from one of our members (triway?) and that helped.
then I got heated hand grips (if you are old you aren't necessarily a poof) so I could wear ordinary gloves all the time and that helped more.
for touring I wear the Alpinestars SRS DryStar Glove and have another pair with the knuckle duster stuff for hooning.

So does the heating increase circulation or something? Do you ALWAYS use these, all year round? Last ride ( Putty Rd 400k's Tuesday last ) hands were NOT cold, quite the contrary, but still "sleepy". Just curious, I'll try anything to increase comfort for us old blokes, and thanks for the post.

release your grip and move your fingers occasionally. Like any body part if you apply pressure to it for a prolonged period you will loose circulation.

I use my index and middle finger to brake which helps with movement and pressure. As i dont use them to turn or grip the throttle due to habit of being 'brake ready' i found it solved alot of circulation issues.

I only use them in really cold conditions ( with good cold weather gloves ). This will give you an idea of the perceived temp ....http://home.iprimus.com.au/foo7/windchill.html

They mean you can wear thinner more comfortable gloves in the cold. I don't even bother with cold weather gloves now as most of them have insulation on the palms that keeps the heat out The little Alpinestars I have are waterproof with a little bit of insulation that seems to do the job.

I've done the odd klm touring over the last 5 years, and plenty more before that too. What I find is that if I stay in one position, my hands will start to fall asleep also. My solution is just simply to vary my hand position on the grips/bars. this seems to minimise the issue. Sometimes I'll have my hands wholey on the grips, others I will just hold them with my finger tips...and everything in between.
