ZX12R wont start.

aaaaaarrrggghhhhh what is wrong with this thing ?
Its a '00 so it has not key sensor/ignition cut out.
Blew a main fuse (well thats what I found) the one down on the battery. BUT I was able to push start it (I thought the main one would mean it wouldnt but there ya go). TOTALLY co-incedentally it also ran out of fuel (yeah it was a good day) so now I can get it to turn over, it has spark so it can only mean it has no fuel.
When I turn it on, the normal routine occurs, dials max, fuel pump kicks in and then out when pressureised * but NO firing at all.
If I take the plate off the airbox and dribble some fuel down it fires so it can ONLY be fuel.
Is it possible that there is still air in the system and that it is pressureing the air and kicking the fuel pump out ?
When I get home this arv I am going to slightly undo the return hose (to the tank) and see if I get air of fuel out of it, just wondering if any one has had it before ?
No answer will be poo pooed, while I THINK I have checked all the basic stuff dont be afraid to suggest ANYTHING.
DAMN I hope I havent fried the CPU in my fucked up attempts to start it.

Not something silly like a kinked fuel hose, although I would think that it'd fire and then die. It happened to a mate of mine a few years ago on a FZR1000 and it took a while to work it out. If it run put of fuel could it have sucked some shit in out of the tank? although I don't think that matters on bikes does it as they all suck from the bottom anyway. Maybe the fuel sloshing around stirred some crap up.

Good luck with it though mate. Things like that shit you to tears

Nope no kinked lines but it will probably be something like that.
Keep em coming, no idea to obscure.

Does it actually spin over and just doesn't fire or it won't turn over.

I picked up something from the fuel pump on my 05 bike, it would run but the FI light would come on and it would just stop. I pulled the pump out (fairly simple, followed the manual instructions on cleaning and it fixed it) Isn't there an 10A ignition fuse ontop of the tank? Worth checking too?

As you say it fires Ok when fuel is tipped into the airbox, then it has to be fuel, otherwise it wouldn't fire even with fuel if there was no electricals operating. So, things to check are that the carbs are getting fuel and the fuel pump is operating. If you have run it dry, it might take a while for the fuel pump to repressurise the lines.

Yeah the Nuetral light works, its spins over and all is right with the world except fuel. The only thing I can think is that has air lock somewhere and I will check the return line this arv to make sure fuel has got that far as if it has then the fuel rail MUST have fuel. The mechanic said I am wasting my time and that it cant be the ECU either as it wouldnt spark at all.
When you turn the key the pump starts then kicks out when it pressurises but I wonder if it is pressurising air ? It seems a long shot but after this I start swapping ECU's and with the other being an '05 it means swapping ignitions too.
I guess I will pull the fuel pump out before I do that but my thoughts on that are if it wasnt pumping (but was spinning) then it wouldnt cut out at all, as it does now.
I am pretty sure they wont even turn over if the sidestand cut out thinks it is down.
Worst part is that if I leave it for a while it will fire once then just spin.

Just swap the hole tank over from the other one. Is there a fuel filter at all, the only thing i could find was the guaze on the pump, how hard is that to block.

And the Winner was .... the PCIII. Disconnected it and hooked the Kwak wiring together and it fired straight up, albeit shit house on the standard fuel map. I was putting it back together and thought hmmmm, I wonder, plugged it BACK in and it was all good and running crisp again. Go figure.
Now I dont see how to be honest but I did leave the PCIII hooked up to power while disconnected, maybe this did something, or just another coincidence ??
Anyway its all good, getting slammed and going to the drags.... :D
