Online directions

Postby 98ninja » Thu Apr 09, 2009 10:15 am

has anyone ever had the problem where everytime you go somewhere
the other half decides to look up directions online and just prints out there map.
then you end up getting lost EVERYTIME and its apparently not the maps fault.

and if you print out out your own map and dont get there perfectly it could have been done
better with the map from online?

i was handed a map this morning from her about how to get to Katoomba.
i dont think shes been to katoomba before.

the online maps give directions like:
-left onto smith st
-fight onto blake st
left onto great western HWY

and if you miss one you're rooted. give me a book anyday, amnd let me find my own way 8)

i print out 2 or 3 maps at varying levels of zoom
if we dont know the area an overview of suburbs
then a map with an overview showing main roads
then a map of close up of the streets where going too.

i get a highlighter out and go over a few different ways to make it to the one spot.

yeah anal and a bit overdone but ive never gotten lost with this method.
in fact when i picked up the 12 from Melbourne. i rode straight to the guys house.
not a single wrong turn.

To be honest you shouldn't need a map to get from Newcastle to Katomba. Finding your way around when you get there may be different. Its on the Great Western Highway and has three of the biggest ugliest stone faced sisters in the world. :kuda: :kuda:

yeah i beleive the directions are F3 south, follow till you see M2, west (sign will say "Canberra"or someo other weird southern town.
then turn right onto M4 with the sign saying "lithgow" and you will get to Katoomba :kuda:

You want to turn....... just back there

I could mention a certain lady who got lost on two occasions using a Navman. Even after the first occasion, still didn't consult maps or even take any along on the second trip!

Katoomba from Newcastle?

Head South on the biggest road you can find, chuck a right on the next freeway you can find, then chuck another right on the next freeway and keep driving until you see a welcome to Katoomba sign
