Hey Hoffy, still waiting on the parts I bought, but in the meantime I have been watching how I change gears (ie, not flogging the bike into the top of 1st, then trying to ram into 2nd ...), I now take a slightly more measured and licence friendly approach.....
I now load up 1st until about 9 to 10 thou rpm, and change - off loading the gearbox a bit smoother, I can now feel a definite "Chunk" when in 2nd, it seems I can then load up 2nd gear with no dramas, it hasn't popped for the last few days now.
I think I needed to be more forceful with my foot to make sure 2nd was fully home before putting full drive back on the gearbox, sloppy changes are not something this bike likes.
I know this is the 7R's Achilles heel though, and the bike did pop out that one time mid corner whilst leaned over under load, the bike stood up pretty quickly.... Also popped out under full throttle 2nd gear acceleration, but that was a frantic burn off the lights against another bike, so accurate shifting was not on my mind at the time ....
I reckon having a replacement set of gears, shift forks and shift drum can't be a bad thing, especially for a couple of hundred bucks.
Maybe I will reverse the shift lever, means I would be putting downward force when changing up gears, could only help with positive upshifting ??

- I did this on one of my old bikes and liked the way it felt.
Anyone else run a reverse shift ??
