changes for the ER-5

wanting to change a few things on the ER-5

first thing is first, a screen, I want just a small screen, with a bit of a fighter style to it, something to improve the look, and hopefully reduce whe wind resistance.

then a headlight change, and possibly a few bodywork changes later down the track.
a bit new to the bike modifying scene, so I very open to suggestions.

I pretty set on a 'cyclopse' style headlight, but if there is a all in one unit of headlight and screen that is not too expensive and looks tha part, then please suggest away.

thinking of adding a belly pan as well, and some new bars.

but, I have no idea where to look for these things, and google only wants to show me pages from the UK, which arent much good to me.

To Do:

Belly pan - Done
Bar end mirrors - Done
Exhaust heat guard (keep melting my boots) - Done
headlight (waiting to find one, either z750 or z1000)
fender eliminator (looks like this will be a chop job. cant find a kit)
LED indicators - Done
LED Tail light(maybe)
LED Accent lights - Done
braided lines(maybe)
different bars - done

... id think about the screen after you think about the headlight... cos u will want the screen to work with the new lights...

oh and to make your bike look tougher instantly, add some bar end mirrors... they will ad little width, but oodles of cred and you will probably be able to see more anyway...

they make rob's zeddy and phils rex look much meaner...

...and just remember like all learner/p-plate bikes, to not throw too much money at it or do anything you can't easily reverse come resale time.


......so you obviously liked having a screen on the virago, are you going to put some high bars on as well

bar end mirrors were on the list aswell. just forgot to mention them.

and yes, the screen on the virago was great, not once did i have to clean my visor while riding that thing. The high bars were horrible, I was actually thinking something a little lower perhaps

Its started,

new belly pan and bar ends are in the mail. Big question, belly pan was black or carbon look (I ordered black) should it stay black, or should i think about trying to match the blue of the bike, which wont be easy because i cant find the colour code for that metallic blue.

next up is a new headlight and screen. might be a few weeks before i can get them though

umm if u want bars, id suggest sumthin like i have on my zed...

Renthal road bars (not moto x).. i went low flat... u can find at most dealers- abt $120 .. i ordered mine from the UK as the ones i wanted in the colour i wanted i couldnt get in aus.. took em abt 5 days to get em to me... cant remeber the website tho (my pc crashed and i havent recovered all the old websites i use to look for stuff)

Ill add a current pic to the thread, and update as i go.

Yeah, I think ill stick with the stock bars just for now, once the definate changes are done, the list will probably keep growing, but bars are definately an eventual niceity only. Ill have a look at the Renthals though, hopefully I wouldnt lose any clearance on the tank.

originally i had flat drag bars.. but i lost too much clearance on the tank...

hence why i went for ultra low renthals in a nice candy red.... hmm i dont have pics of my bike ...let me look for sum..
